Hi all,
I've finally got my first ever brand new saddle, it's the best thing ever but it's 16.5/17" and monoflap and all my numnahs are too big, I had all le meuix but they've actually rubbed my pony and he's quite sore now, I don't have the biggest budget but what does everyone else use? Are there any normal jumping numnahs that are forward cut enough?
I'll probably end up cutting the front Velcro straps off so that's not a bother if they have those.
Thanks

we use close contact jump saddles, not monoflap though. We use standard pads, nothing special.

What did the saddler use when fitting your saddle ?

Griffin nuumed - everyday cotton but the high wither one ... i'd avoid bulky cloths as they will alter the fit of your saddle.

Make sure you pull up the cloth into the gullet of the saddle... and maybe get a cloth with short velcro straps that attach to the d rings at the front of the saddle - this should also help prevent the cloth slipping down / back and rubbing ... again i think the nuumed ones have these ...

Thanks,
I always did this, I think this horse is just super sensitive to the back seam unfortunately, it's not that uncommon but I think that large on a short coupled 15.1 probably wasn't smart, I'll try griffin thank you

I use the Eskadron SR cut saddle cloths about £25 so not massive money but they can be hard to get. They fit really nicely although I have a normal close contact rather than a mono flap, they don't come down to far under the saddle. You can just see the way its cut in my signature. They stay put and wash and last well.
I don't really use normal ones any more but I've got a couple of HKM cotton cloths which are good. I would be tempted to just get normal thin cotton saddle cloths and cut the straps off.

Ah thank you I'll go have a look for the eskadron ones.
I did think I'd have to go down that route but just want to make sure I find one that will not look to big against the saddle if that makes any sense at all, thank you

Do what I have done for the last 45years, don't use one at all. If the saddle fits there is no need to use one anyway.

I've had a lot of horses and never had a problem with sore or injured backs.
