Closing down an account on H&H forum

For the record I don't think the OP has posted this as a response to just the thread about jumping the buted up horse.
They also posted something else recently which was treated very rudely & they were accused of lying.

Yes, I just saw a thread in the club house where she was not treated nicely, perhaps because some people have decided they don't like her because of the bute thread and therefore she is just someone to be silly/nasty to.

OP log off, walk away, let the dust settle and see how you feel in a week or two.x

I am sorry, but am I the only one to find this post make for uncomfortable reading...?

I agree that the horse is still lame from the video, and should not be in work, let alone competed, and am bemused as to how the OP thinks it is acceptable.

However some of the comments being made/illustrations displayed are akin to playground bullying and downright vicious........sometimes I am ashamed to be a member of this forum.

Op was wrong to compete on a lame horse, but surely thats all that needs said, this trawling around her posts and having a go needs to stop now, it is like a bloody playground in here sometimes

This isn't a flounce, more like a ripple :)

I belong to another forum to do with a human auto-immune disorder and we had one poster who regularly put up posts titled "I'm off!" threatening to leave as she didn't like the comments people were making ( I got the impression some people thought she was a hypochondriac, or at least she thought that they did) then just a few HOURS later had posts entitled "I'm back".

I was glad when she did leave in the end as I was getting dizzy!

And please note, applecart, I'm not saying I want you to leave, I haven't been following your posts, it is just an aside. :)

I quite agree. So we might not agree with how the op keeps her horse but this thread and the responses make me cringe.

I find just switching my phone off or better yet, sending it round the washing machine, works just as well as deleting an account.

I haven't read why the OP wants to leave, but there are some posters on this thread who have made vile posts in the past to others and should be ashamed to be making the same kind of remarks. Spoils H&H imo.

Yep. Very much this. I think its fine to say you disagree with someone but some people really do take it to far and become downright unpleasant and aggressive. It spoils the forum for everyone else

I totally agree! Not quite sure why she didn't just stay logged out, and I totally don't agree with the way she is going about the situation with her horse. But this does have slight echoes of those horror stories you hear about young girls that throw themselves in front of a train because of a hate campaign online.

Think before you post - this post does highlight that you can't ever rid your online history and it may come back to bite you on the bum!!

There is a lot of nastiness all over the internet; it's a marvellous (and depressing/shocking) mirror to humanity. Perhaps the kindest thing to say about the extreme nastiness of people is that they lack maturity.

Polarskye dont jump on me unless you are standing right in front of me, no i am not condoning what OP did but i was stating a fact and trying to be dilomatic about her error and not be nasty like the rest of some forum users and yes there are thousand who do work their horses on bute, do horses who compete unaffiliated get drug tested for winning no they dont, and if they are working the horse on bute who says they are not competing it on bute or giving it bute at the end of the day after competing. Because they a bot drug tested and owners dont go around telling everyone their horse is on bute, how would you know, but when you weigh up the amount of threads on here alone where horses are on bute, its not hard to work out the facts. Take the blinkers off, you will get a better picture.

Sorry the 'everyone else is doing it so therefore it's not to be condemned' view doesn't quite sit right with me.

There are many, many examples in history of people doing things because 'everyone else is', it does not make it right. Yes it may happen, and even if loads of people do it, it STILL does not make it right. The fact is the horse is on painkillers and being asked to do something which could seriously, seriously damage it. I would not dose a child up on painkillers and ask them to do the county high jump or hurdles when they have an injury despite how much they want to do it.

If everyone condoned it then you could have people reading the thread and going off and doing the same thing. This is a public forum and yes, sometimes I believe it can turn into a witch hunt unecessarily, but overall I find the forum to be full of reasonable people with some very helpful advice.

Erm, pardon? I merely asked questions . . . the question marks should have given a major clue that I was, in fact, querying facts rather than being aggressive or "jumping" on you (or anyone else for that matter).

This place is very strange sometimes.

Oh . . . and had you been standing right in front of me, I would still have asked you the same questions . . . what I wrote was a genuine expression of incredulity and I really wanted answers to my questions (or I wouldn't have asked them). I wasn't aware that asking questions was tantamount to aggression. But then, this is HHO ;).

Sorry polarskye emotions run high in threads like this, the OP i am sure has realised the error of her ways by now, she certainly should have by the number of posters who have revved her on it in this thread and yes lots of people do it because everyone else is, its not right but how are you going to stop that.....!!

My thousand is based on facts of i have travelled the world in my 50 years, i have been involved in horses everywhere i have travelled the world, i am not basing my thousands on the UK alone, how many horses in the world compete, let alone those that go out on a days hunting having been given bute, it will make them feel better.....! How many racehorses this is a professional business get their winning race taken away from them because the horse was positive after a drug test, there were a few trainers last year who lost their licence due to steroids. Last years badminton winner lost his win because the horse tested posted, albeit it was a calmer, the fact is so many folk do it and just dont advertise it, now lets give OP a break there are far more serious crimes going on in the world we could spend our extra time on.

Charmin yes it is a forum where folk give reasonable advice, but then we dont all have to follow every other poster like sheep, just as you say because one does it i must to, i chose not to be part of the witch hunt and i dont need a portion of the carcass after the other lions have taken their share. Thats my choice.

yes it is H&H lol

I just wanted to add in all my posts on this forum i never attacked a poster back and yet posters in the majority of posts i have made have felt they had the right to attack me, i have always just given my opinion which usually gets turned around by another, but we dont all think the same we are all different, it doesnt mean one is more correct over another. We dont know each other personally or even walked in anyone elses footsteps, and this is why this forum sometimes gets heated because folk choose to witch hunt instead of doing unto others what you would expect them to do to you, if you dont have anything nice or helpful to say then dont say anything at all. Smile its raining outside

still laughing!

I don't have any issue with older horses with Boney issues continuing to work at jobs they like ( including jumping ) on medication .
However I do believe it's vital that you know what's wrong with the horse so you know medicating is apporiate and I like to downgrade their work a bit.
There's no issue with doing unaffilated comps on bute it's not outside the rules .

Oh and of course the horse needs to be comfortable on it's medication .

But you can get so revved up enough from being on it, it can give you the courage to get that brute out of the field and throw a saddle on his back and ride him, even though he dropped you the last time you tried 5 years ago, lol

Thanks Goldenstar, wisdom at last

Completely agree. Some members should be ashamed of their juvenile comments.

:D Ok so who's upset the AppleCart?

Meaning

To cause upset - to create a difficulty.

Origin

This allusory phrase is first recorded by Jeremy Belknap in The History of New Hampshire, 1788:

"Adams had almost overset the apple-cart by intruding an amendment of his own fabrication on the morning of the day of ratification" [of the Constitution].

To the haters:

When you have made the (extremely hard) decision to retire your (more than happy to jump anything) horse due to lameness, or are currently going thorough the deliberating pain of rehabilitation following lameness, and are ticking the laborious check list associated (regardless of the type of lameness) it is a huge smack in the face with a wet fish to see someone so flamboyantly bragging about doing neither.

Responsibility is the responsibility of the responsible. Everyone else is allowed to piss in the wind at the peril of other people. Sorry for having an opinion on animal cruelty lead by the irrisponsible. #sorrybutnotsorry.

Hear Hear. I may be childish, but at least I am doing my utmost to make sure that my horse with chronic soundness issues is properly diagnosed, treated accordingly, rehabbed by the book and watched like a hawk on a daily basis for any indication that he isn't comfortable. I am angry with the OP fro doing none of the above, so Yes, I was rude to her. Don't care...

Am I being naive...but isn't lameness an indication of pain? Haven't read the original threads but knowingly riding, let alone competing, a lame horse sounds worthy of criticism....so should come as no surprise to the OP perhaps?
