My paddock has become riddled with clover this year. It is white clover which I don't think is bad for horses but I don't think they particularly like it so it is robbing them of valuable grass eating by covering the place!

Can anyone recommend a way of managing it?? I don't particularly like to spray chemicals on things if i can avoid it so am wondering about getting some sheep in to munch it down - however that would again mean less grass for the horses...

Hello,
I seeem to think that clover is more calorific than grass so may be worth keeping.
I also seem to think that clover doesn't grow on fields that have been fertilised.

Clover is a legume so therefore fixes nitrogen in the soil. We use it alot in Dairy cow grass pasture.

Not really suitable for horse pastures, especially if horses are fatties.

The only way to get rid is to spray with a broadleaf weedkiller.
