Do any of you have one?

can you let me know what you do with them and how succesful you have been in your chosen discipline.

and photos if possible!

I am considering one but she really isn't my usual type.

I have one and owned her brother befor her, they breed shire and Clyde crosses where I keep her and I think they make amazing horses. My last one is doing bs and Rose who I have now also has an amazing jump but we're concentrating on dressage at the mo. Some of the others they have bred have got to be police horses hunters and just general riding horses, I can't post pics as im on my iPod but I think I have photos of them in my album, hope that helps
 
My son has just bought one, she is 3 years old. I have to take some photos. I have a couple but not easy to post from this PC. She is a little thin at moment, so must take my before photos, as we are fattening her up.

She is a very dominant mare, smart and quick to learn. I fed her the other day and as another horse approached she spun round about 3 or 4 times on the spot, kicking and striking. I have not seen a horse do this before, she was so quick and agile. Then went straight back to eating as if nothing had happened.

She is good on her feet and I feel that she will do well at whatever is asked of her. my son has been long reining her and intends to break her to harness. She has been broken in and he is lightly riding her, and really happy with her. He has had some huge gaps, weeks between rides and it does not seem to be an issue for her, quiet on roads and happy to hack away on her own.

She does still need lots of time and effort put into her, she is very green. But am looking forward to seeing how she turns out. My only comment is that could do with a bit more length or rein, but, not many perfect horses out there.
 
Yes!!! I have a Clydesdale x WB!! And he is fantastic!!! A total angel and the yard favourite!! You can trust him totally and can do anything with him! He's got the best personality of any horse I've ever come across and I will never come across another horse like him!

I bought him as a backed and turned away 4 year old. He's 17.1 now but seems bigger because absolutely everything about him is big!! It can be a nuisance as I had to buy everything for him as no one had anything they could pass on to me.

It took quite a while for him to find his balance in the school but he hacked out alone from day one and is quite happy to potter or equally have a hooly and jump everything in sight! He has the va va voom of the warmbloods coupled with the good nature of the clydesdale!

He's amazingly strong, agile and has amazing elevated paces! He can turn on a sixpence and his aerial displays in the field are something to be behold!

Having said all that - he was a dressage star with amazing presence and look-at-me factor in the arena. We won loads of unaffiliated competitions and local championships. Before he had to retire through suspensory ligament injury he gained 40 BD points in about 3 months, qualified for the Regionals at Novice (we couldn;t go because of foot and mouth outbreak), was competing at affiliated elementary. He won RC Working Hunter and Show Hunter Championships and in his spare time would not be unhappy to take a petite 7 year old girl around the school quite safely!

So - in my opinion - you won't regret having a clydie cross as they are truely wonderful horses! If you'd like pics - PM me with your email address as I'm no good at uploading pics to my gallery on here!
 
Hovis is one. Need I say more. He is my horse of a lifetime. What he's crossed with we have no idea but he can shift.
When someone who rides better than me rides him he can go beautifully and loves his jumping!
 
Thanks daisybe, she's very agile on the flat she picks things up so easily I Only normaly have to show her somthing once :) they are definatly characters and I personally don't think I'll ever buy anything else. Oh and she's very safe I broke her in myself and I've never had a problem with her, my mum even rides her out with me so I have a nanny for the others. I'm also doubly lucky as I'm breaking her daughter in at the mo and she's turning out just as safe.

I had one until very recently - he's in the company of a very good friend now.

He was amazing - had him from a yearling, broke/backed etc myself & he was an angel.

By the age of rising 5 he was schooling to elementary & learning medium.

We also showed to HOYS/RIHS level as a 4/5 year old

They akll seem to be pretty amazing horses:)
 
I have what we believe is a clyde x welsh - she is a little superstar. She has clyde build but welsh mentality. I can put anyone on her. We 'do' dressage and did her 9th EVER dressage competition at Stoneleigh doing the Trailblazers champs (prelim). We didn't get placed but it was rider error, not the cob, at fault and the judge on the final day came to find me to expland a little on some of his comments and was incredibly complimentary about her. We compete Novice unaffiliated now and are going to go and do our first affiliated prelim on Sunday.

huge jump, powerful on the flat. Lovely friendly temperament but can be a bit cob to handle (ie bolshy but not nasty) pretty much unflappable (apart from owls and alpacas) now on long term loan to a friend after coffin joint problems ended his active riding days

I breed Clydie crosses - they make the most amazing, easygoing sport horses - capable of having a go at just about any discipline. Cheap to keep as they live on fresh air!

I have a Clydie mare - I have two foals from her, the first is by a Holsteiner and of heavy hunter weight and has just started his ridden career and is an absolute sweetheart - the second is three and by a TB, she is nearly 17hh already, jumps the gate when she feels like it. She's easy to work with, smart and brave.

They have naturally active paces and will do great dressage. I prefer the to breed from the Clydie mare using a lighter build stallion, the old tradition of 'Blood over Bone'.

ooh they all look and sound fab.

Evelyn build wise she is like your TB x (she is a TB X on her sires side) she has a more clydesdale head though.

Darkly dreaming your boy is sooo smart.

does anyone find them sharp at times?
 
We have Jack, who looks just like a Clydesdale but at only 16hh we think he may be crossed with a Welsh D as he can have that typical Welsh feistyness about him but he's also very affectionate and loyal.

I love the big, hairy, clumsy lummox to bits!
 
domane - mine is pure Clyde and 16hh - the older blood lines are smaller than th ecurrent show horses, many of which have got that size by crossing with Shires, shires have also been crossed with Clydesdales for the feather quality. Sad really as they have with some horses lost the quality of the Clydesdale, resulting in horses with roman noses and overly fleshy lips.

My girl is from old working stock - her grand dam actually worked the farm she came from.
 
I had one see my signature second to the left and avatar 16hh. Does everything goes hunting, showjumps, cross country, adult games i.e. poles, barrels, fun rides, a little strong for a total novice to ride as they probably would not be able to stop him. A lot people seem to get shires and clydesdales mixed up. Clydesdales have white above the knee but shires have white up to the knee.

The fastest learner go anywhere do anything horse I have ever owned, with the want to please, cold blood working horse grace to die for.

I have a CD x TB - 16.3hh, now 11, had him since he was 5. He is not sharp at all - very laid back and a true gent. We do a bit of everything, at a very low level - hunting, lots of hacking, prelim dressage, showjumping up to 1m, xc/hunter trials, have tried TREC and endurance, and started woking hunter this year. He is the easiest horse to do anything with.

Here's my boy - he is a clydie x cob

He is the most fantastic horse and turns his hoof to anything - in the 11 years I have owned him we have done loads of stuff - dressage, show jumping, showing, trec, sponsored rides. He goes on the buckle for a mooch, or can act like a 4 year old - he's 21!

He was my first horse and i couldn't have asked for anything better.

I would not hesitate to buy another one, I can't recommend them highly enough.
 
Ive got one he's a clydesdale cross Tb but I think that's his eye lashed as there aint nothing tb about him he's about 17'3 -18 hands and has the sweetest nature, is very gentle and tries to please. To be honest he's just a big baby and I love him to bits
