Mum has a shire x and I adore him for his huge goofiness! Most of the clyde x horses I've seen retain the big clyde head and blaze but Mums horse doesnt really look like a shire (he is just the size of one!) mores the pity
This is Copperfield, he is a clydie x summat or other, possibly cow the size of his craps and his horrid confo but he was the sweetest horse in the world. Unfortunatly he surcummed to his confo and was retired at about 14 and is currently at Devon horse and Pony sanctury where he's become their new mascot!

i love my clydesdale x and wouldn't have any other breed of horse now as they are so calm considerate and talented
I love my Clydie crosses. I have Serenity a purebred Clydesdale mare who I breed from. She's had two foals, Serenade is 2yrs old and is by a Holsteiner. Fantasia is 6months old and by the TB Westminster. I'm just starting to break in Serenade. I show them in hand in Sporthorse and breed classes.
I have a 16hh, 11 year clydesdale x TB. Chestnut flecked with white. And ive had him 7years.
He does everything - WH, SJ, XC, Jumpcross, Dressage and has been placed. Fabby to hack, shoe, box etcetcetc! And most important is he is honest, XC wise as a green baby - one stop first time! only cos he needed to poop! lol! Fantastic temparment of horse vs the blood horses that I used to ride.
My horse is a Clydesdale X Highland, probably the most unusual cross! Here are a few pictures of him. He is forward going, opinionated, incredibly clever. I bought him to do a few baby x country jumps, but his bone spavin put paid to that unfortunately. We go hacking and do a bit of light schooling.
Wow he is stunning, might have a new fave HHO horse! What makes it even better is there's a correctly fitted flash! Not tight and with a straight cavason! I shall definatly be looking out for that cross in the future!
Oh guys, thanks, am tickled pink!! Its an unusual cross, but I think it works. Not that I am biased or anything!!!
I am very fussy about his flash fitting, I think it should be tight enough to do its job, but comfortable enough for him to be able to adjust his mouth should he decide to.
I have found that Clydey crosses are indeed strong, slow of the leg, yet spirited too. They are a lot of fun.
Unfortunatly those two photos are of only 3 that make copper look good! Sweetest horse in the world but just about as bad a shape as possible and a poster boy for FHOTD! He was abused previously but our coachwoman spent a lot of time with him and eventually he followed her around like a little puppy and you could do anything with him.
Here's him being broken to drive, very cute http://www.heavy-horses.net/training-horses.htm
Little dartmoor mare is covered by a Shire stallion and produces a heavy cob that looks like an undersized shire at 15.2hh. they were extremely popular for hunting about 20 years ago.
Used to compete friens'd clydey x tb mare as a 4/5 yo at unaff dressage and the odd sj successfully. She is now 13 and is doing affil dressage, qualifying for the nationals on a number of occasions and part of the winning BRC novice sj team champs at Hartpury last year. She came 2nd in both the medium and advanced medium at Myerscough afil yest - who needs flash warmbloods?! Although must say that my friend has trained her impeccably and must be given some credit!
love them, love them, love them! My old girl was sold to me as a Clydie cross, but suspect she is purebred. We still managed to do XC, low level Endurance and hunting. My lad is 17' 1" X TB and we do mainly dressage, but also XC. They both have such great temperaments.
Another Clydie X enthusiast here. Mine's 16hh and thinks he's a thoroughbred. Currently BE 90 eventing and getting placed...qualified for Regional Finals! Had him since a four year old and done everything with him. He's worth his (quite considerable) weight in gold!!!
My friend has a fab clydey x tb who is amazing. Used to compete her as a 4yo when friend was at work at the weekends and she was ace!
She is now doing advanced medium affiliated dressage and has qualified for BD winter champs on a number of occasions in the last few years including combined training and has been placed.
Also competed on riding club sj teams and been on winning teams at Hartpury in 2007 (and 3rd this yr). She has been placed and won at BRC champs in dressage, riding test, style jumping, rural riders and showjumping - she is the complete allrounder. She is an absolute star! Must say that my friend has trained her impeccably and they are truely suited to each other. Next project is to find a suitable boyfriend so she can have a foalie!
Any suggestions welcome - want to breed something similar but with a bit more flair...
Her full brother is doing local level elementary dressage and is so bouncy and expressive, think he would have gone a long way if owner wasn't too busy with own business, other horses, family etc.
I think they are under rated and are sooo trainable. Remember Becky Moody having a shire cross called Early Bird who moved as well as any warmblood, and another friend has a shire x tb (Queen's Soldier) who went novice eventing to a competitive level.
