Hi,
I'm investing my money in a decent hunt coat and having read other threads I just want to know if navy is the correct colour to wear for a lady hunting? I realise that black is fine but if i'm spending the hard earnt money i'd like to get it right first time :)
Also for those who hunt in navy but haven't got the patey navy hat too, is a black hat acceptable or do i need to get a navy velvet to go over it instead?

Personally, I wear black because I had to wear a navy blazer to school and a navy coat would remind me too much of that! Silly, I know, but I prefer black so wear it with a black velvet hat and nobody has ever told me I can’t, lol. Traditionally, I think ladies only wore black when in mourning, but I could be talking out of my bum here! These days I think its acceptable to wear either. If you already have a black hat, I would go with a black jacket to match as it will look odd otherwise unless, you can get another. I wouldn’t get a cover for it if it’s a Patey, it will look smarter as it is with a matching jacket.

Quite alot of the ladies this morning where in black coats, did see a couple of navy ones.
Am currently looking for a navy coat too as my hat is the same colour :)

Mine is navy and I’ve got a navy cover on my skull cap. In our hunt younger member tend to wear blue and older ladies black – not sure why!! Just pick whichever you like best and matches your horse. ;)

I love navy coats and if I could afford a new one I would get a navy one. I personally think they look alot neater on a lady and makes a lady stand out in a crowd.

I love navy coats on ladies, I think they look extremely smart, but a black coat looks just as good too!!
I have just purchased a brand new, navy wool coat on ebay, only cost me £99 as nobody else was bidding, bargain! And it fits like it was made for me, extra bargain!! You should take a look and see if your size is on there, they give every measurement you could possibly need, so you can't go far wrong! I do have a navy silk on my skull cap. :)

Navy for me, although one of the local hunts specifies black for the ladies hunt coat, but I've never herd it being enforced, dont think they could realy.
