Coat/fleece for cold winter months

Hello! I was wondering if some one can help us and our Staffy Stovakor! Stovy loves adventure but old age is starting to affect him, we suspect he has arthritis in front and back legs and he gets quite stiff towards the end of the day/morning, especially when its cold. We want to buy him a coat/fleece of some sort for our future adventures (just around UK). We are going to be wildcamping for a few days in Scotland(Arrochar Alps) in a few weeks and want him to be warm and comfortable. We have been looking around for different coats and found quite a lot of Hurtta coats with big discounts. I know Equafleece is heavily recommended but is that because its price is usually half of Hurtta? I also found some Ruffwear coats that seem quite good but leave quite a lot of his back/legs exposed.
Hope some one can help, we love taking him on our trips.

what a lovely sbt you have !
my boy is 2 and asks to have his fleece on by resting his head on my knee on chilly evenings.
he hates the rain but is happy in his coat.
he has a weatherbeta navy fleece for best (about £11) and a waterproof weatherbeta (£14??) i always rate these and my other dog has these too.

edited to say-i have never bought a really expensive dog coat as the weatherbeetas have always worked well and i feel as long as his back is dry he is happy. there are lots of `bargain` shops in town and i always have to buy him their` extra large`, seems they dont do inches. (my boy wears a 18")

Wow, those are incredible markings on that staffy, i love it! . I wish i could make him a jumper like that top one, would not look right though as i have never done any sewing/knitting haha.
Ours hates the rain, we really did not come prepared to Dartmoor, I felt really bad when it started to rain, luckily he found himself little cave to take cover untill it passed. So this time i really want to come prepared lol. Ill have a look at the weatherbeta, thanks!

I have Staffords too. Best coat is the Mark Todd. Neck fits over th big staffy head, has a belly flap and the straps are deep enough to go round. I also waited it out on ebay and all mine now have Thermatex rugs as well which are a god send for the oldest bitch.

I have several from bleakhound designs who make them to measure, fab fleeces and waterproofs and whippet approved for warmth

Gillrugs flectalon ,thermal coats are the warmest we have.
The flectalon contains metal threads that are in the coats filling...the dog throws out heat,the threads warm up and the dog stays warm with its own body heat..

My old lab has spondolosis and arthritis , now that the weather has turned you can see her struggling more. She has a weatherbeeta 220g fill waterproof coat. I like these ones because they are quite long at the sides so give good coverage over the back legs, they also have belly coverings and a'collar' as well as leg straps so the coat doesn't slip to the side when she walks. They are a super fit and good value for money at £20 from my local saddler but you can probably get them cheaper online. The reflectives also make them easier to spot in the dark

Personally I would heartily recommend the Equafleece coats; they're well made here in the UK (in Devon in fact) and when I've needed to ring them with a query or what-have-you, they've always been incredibly helpful.

Have had theirs both for my oldie, who was very thankful for it until we lost her earlier in the year; and my little terrier who simply hates getting his frills and petticoats wet and needs some wussy-treatment when he's cold and wet. These coats dry up and warm up a dog very quickly and are just the job.

My dog loves his hotterdog fleeces. But they can be hard to put on. Though he's a pointer so listen to the staffie owners. But I swear by trixie dog robes for putting on when you get home. He's dry and warm in no time. Got mine off amazon if you're interested.
