Does anyone use the more expensive coat oils on their horse for shows eg. Supreme Products Glistening Oil and do you find them any better than good old baby oil?

I use the supreme face makeup mainly but have used just baby oil although I find its messy to put on and it is more liquid so I think it just gets on everything, so you really need a groom to put it all on then pass you the finished horse to get on otherwise your covered in it ?

I just use baby oil. I fact I brushed some into him tonight, I have been tempted by the proper showing oils. The Shapleys stuff looks good, as well as MP Gloss revitalise oil. I may try some next year with him if I take him out but for everyday use the baby oil does just fine ?

I use the glistening oil for evening performances and a coat spray for normal classes. Do sometimes use baby oil but not on muzzle. Have some horse specific gloss with sun protection.

I use baby oil on skin parts as has been used for decades but not oodles like some do. Usually put a bit on a dry wipe and then put on. I use Razzle Dazzle spray on the coat.

Thanks for the replies everyone! What's everyone's favorite to use on the face - mainly to accentuate the features? I'm tempted to splurge on something fancy!

I would be very careful of using baby oil after seeing a friends horse get burnt on a nice day with baby oil!

Personally I dont like how it blends or spreads and seems to lump in one place, then I find it kinda sits on the coat rather than enhancing it.

Best one I've used is MP Gloss Diamond Dazzler - it actually improves the coat, gives mirror shine, not slippy and doesnt 'sit' on the coat, it actually looks amazing! And smells divine!

How do you use it as mud protection? Like on their heels or all through their coat?

Make sure you patch test first and don’t use on sore skin. I put it on all of their legs and heels. It can be used directly on to wet mud but it’s messy. Better on clean legs. It makes it easier to brush dry mud off. It lubricates skin and hair. It is only liquid paraffin with a perfume.

The supreme sparkle spray is the best thing ever you can use it on the coat mane tail face hooves the lot brilliant stuff.

I find it gathers more dust than any other product I have used. Maybe it just doesn't agree with shetland hair ?

I have been known to use Supreme Products Hi-Lighter gel though. You need some baby wipes and a towel handy! I rub it on the palms of my hands then run my hands down the area I want it on. Then scrub hands with baby wipes and a towel before touching anything else ?

I have another question ? Whats the difference between supreme products highlighter gloss vs highlighter gel vs eye gloss? Or also between their coat gloss vs spray n shine vs sparkle spray? They seem to have a lot of duplicate products and I'm not sure which are best!

I think they have a video showing how to do the face makeup and that tells you when they're using which. I think I have the highlighter gel because it could be used more widely.

In the winter to make mud easier to get off I use Baby oil but I think it would burn in summer and not look as good so I use the SP Highlighter gel for his face and black points when showing.

I found it really good on the Arab's you don't need alot though and they do have very fine coats in the summer.
