Just wondered where everyones horses were at with their coats. My ID x seems to have been shedding for ages now but still seems to be quite fluffy around the belly especially. Maybe I'm being a bit ambitions but I thought summer coat would be more evident by now !

I think this every year, then get depressed as they don't seem to get their 'true' summer coat until nearly June after months of looking haggard and by September they're getting fluffy again 🤣

I have a dun and it's quite interesting watching him coat change as he does it in 2 stages. He loses a load of coat in Feb/March and de-fluffs a bit and his coat goes from pale yellow to a dark bay/black colour... then April/May he does a second shed where it all comes off again and he goes bright orange for summer. So I use him as a barometer for mine losing their winter coats - we're still in the dark brown phase at the moment with hints of orange surfacing!

Mine is currently 50 shades of buckskin. He’s lost most of the roughly 5 inch long cream hairs (apart from random patches on his belly, under his armpits and around his bum) which revealed a layer of brown fuzz. The fuzz layer is now also slowly shedding with patches closer to the yellow he was at end of Summer starting to poke through.

My mini coblet has a super hairy belly that’s showing no signs of shedding. So far I’ve managed to scrape neck and shoulders to summer status, chest still has straggly hairs, body is slowly thinning but the bloody belly just won’t shift!

Mine looks like a motheaten old carpet 😭 been moulting for a good month now and still another to go by the look of him. Next year he’s getting full clipped in Feb 😖

Dave's like a cut & shut. Summer coat coming on the front, full yeti behind. He's clinging on to it this year, I'm blaming the gloomy start to shedding season.
I need it gone for May for our County Show!!

Mine has gone from fluffy spud to almost in sports mode in the last 2 days. Similar to Dave, the sport is at the front though!

I'm blaming the coat for her casting herself on Wednesday as well, she is so ITCHY

Gelding (high % TB blood) shed for about a fortnight and was done and dusted.
Mare (native type) has been shedding for what feels like 2 months.
Where she was clipped you can see the dark summer coat coming through but the unclipped bits have loads more to lose.

Saus is almost completely shedded out, except for her belly which looks like a neon orange shaggy carpet attached to her belly, compared to the rest of her lovely coppery summer coat 🤣

Erin is about 1/3 of the way through, which is I think due to the VAST amount of hair on that pony. Every time I go near Erin I feel as though I’ve inhaled 1/2 my body weight in hair 😂

My ID is through the worst of it but definitely still shedding. Her belly is a little fluffy but she’s started her season and squeals if I touch it, a good groom would likely sort her.

Archie is very motheaten and patchy. The winter coat is fading and clinging on to his tummy. He walks around the field with 4-5 jackdaws on his back, pecking away for nest lining. I wish he would finish shedding, he must be uncomfortable now it's so warm.

My chap (ISH) seems to have been shedding for at least two months but still looks pretty moth eaten.

He’s lost the long winter hair he gets on his legs, and looks sleeker from the knees down. He’s also is currently going through his mid-shed phase of having a very dark tinge to his coat on his neck and shoulders, when he’s actually a bright bay the rest of the year. Every time I groom him at the moment, by the time I’ve finished one pass with all the deshedding tools , more floof is making itself known.
