I apologise if this has been answered before in other posts but i couldnt find my exact question answered.

I have a 6year old sec C mare who i plan to compete at county level this season. She is palomino and goes a lovely deep colour in the summer, she has no trouble what so ever in holding weight/condition and can practically live off fresh air!
At the moment she is having
1x Stubbs scoop Hi Fi lite
1/3 Stubbs Scoop Leisure Mix
Twice a day.
I expect in the summer she wont be fed a lot if anything, but obviously will depend at the time on how much grass, work levels etc.
She is a typical welshie and always has plenty of energy.

I want to start feeding her something that will give her a really good shine on her coat and keep that deep golden colour, with out heating her up or adding even more unwanted weight/condition for the coming season. Any ideas...???

I was wondering about BOSS or prehaps just a good glug of Soya Oil??

Rug during the summer months (fly rug or similar) to prevent fading, feed wise, if they are healthy they should shine anyway, oil is always good though.

BOSS and instant linseed - works very well on my hairy beasties who have the sort of coats that take some work to glow.

Good grooming, dash of pig oil in final rinse of warm water. Brewers yeast is also said to help coats.

a tablespoon of rapeseed or soya oil in their night feed is great for skin, coat and joints. Grass contains small amounts of oil but a lot of this is lost during haymaking so it is a good idea to supplement this during the autumn, winter and spring.

Get the Equus Herbs Winter Glow Summer Shine. I've had my gang on it for a couple of months now and they are so shiny, absolutely gleaming.

They look like they've got summer sun shining on them. I'm well imprtessed with it.

I have two natives - a new forest and a connemara - both look fantastic with a good glug of veg oil (rapeseed oil) added to their dinner!

Benevit & Drop of veg oil once a day in feed. I had many Welsh Cobs over the years, bred & owned and found that Benevit was very effective in helping with there condition. Also a tip when you finishing bathing for a show, put a large drop of meth spirit into bucket of water and then rub down after finishing bathing and let dry naturally, will come up like glass.

Good luck for the future shows.
