Coats for spaniels.....

Oooh!
I DO need a coat for Purdey for when she gets back to the car after a morning's shoot. She really shivers if she is wet - and we haven't got to the really cold weather yet! I was going to cut the sleeves of an old fleecy sweatshirt of mine and adapt it but these look great:D
Trouble is - I don't need a waterproof coat - I just need a warm one:(
And I think the shoot might just laugh if she turned up in one of those:(
And I think my OH would rather NOT take Purdey that take her to shoot in one:(

Oh well:rolleyes:

She'll only cook to death! :D :D You need a nice short coated dog of some description that feels the cold and needs a rug as well as Millie, then you get a dog to dress up! :p :D

Nickijem - try Aerborn/Thermatex/Harpley Equestrian dog rugs, they are super duper for drying them off. Otto gets his on at lunch and then on the way home and it keeps him warm and dries him off nice and quickly.

I use Danish Design coats because they have the bit that goes between the legs and chest and does up round the belly.

I am liking the look of the landa deluxe as it does up in the same way.

One of the danish design ones has a fleece you can take out if you find its too hot and just use the outer mac, they had them in my local country wide 17.99 ish

I also have a hurta coat, its great but I had to adjust the chest bit that goes through the legs

Gah! I tried to order that spotted one for Pops so many times last winter, and every place I ordered it from it was out of stock in her size.

I ended up buying a BRIGHT pink one for her, at Burghley, as she does need high viz for some of the places we go out to walk, where there are lots of bikes. She wears it in the car when it's chilly as well, as she does get shivery at times.

Thanks for that KH - I will have a look at those!
It is at lunch time and at the end of the shoot when everyone is just milling about before heading off home when Purdey gets the shivers:( She has to have a towel wrapped round her so I will try and get a proper coat:)

Henry has a Hotterdog fleece, which are made by Equafleece but which are cheaper since there is a smaller range of sizes and colours. It's great, very effective at getting him warm and dry after he goes for a dip in January:rolleyes:

Tell Mr Pops that he is talking rubbish :) :D

A good working spaniel, just like Millie will be soon - needs a nice Equafleece to help dry her off after a hard days work.

And of course not just thinking about the dog but you aswell! If I put Flyn in his equafleece when we have finished shooting, by the time I have driven home, he is completely dry and allowed in the house! ;) :D

Just think of all that mud/stinky wet dog you will save your carpet from, not to mention the cost of building kennels to keep her outside when she is in that state!

Better by an equafleece for £30 rather than £500 on kennels ;)

oh dear!!! ive got a massive addiction to buying rugs for mine. both springers have about 3 coats each :) i did buy a fal dog rug of ebay the other day for £7 and its fantastic, because there was only one im just going to have to buy anouther one! they both have velvet bling collers too hahaha!!!!!!!!!!!

this one will make you laugh though............just bought a dobermann......she is 10 weeks and already has 2 rugs, opps! my dogs are almost better rugged than my horse!!! :):D

she wears it standing in the queue at agility comps if its raining, and then on the way back to the truck - dont want my little athlete getting soaking wet, having to run, then sitting in the truck wet.

I can recommend a vizsla for this purpose ;) :p :D
Flora has a rambo whitney fleece she wears after working and anytime its cold really  (early mornings on way to shows etc) All my dogs have rambo turnout rugs for walking in the rain just because I cant be arsed to dry them all off properly and get my house like some kind of sauna to stop them getting chills...although it is embarrassing walking down the road with four dogs in what looks like some kind of school uniform as they all have the same coat in different sizes! I will get a pic of them all next time they need them!
