I don't doubt this has been done to death but small skinny dog is starting to let me know she's cold in the evenings on her walks. She's only just 6 months so I'm loathed to get her anything 'decent' as she'll out grow it pretty quickly. Can anyone recommend a coat of a whippet puppy that won't be stupidly ill fitting (she isn't overly deep in the chest) just for this winter until she's stopped growing?

I use the ones from GRWE, I think they are called blizzard??? They are really good for my skinny lurcher girl, I don't think I paid much for it, around £25. It is waterproof with a fake sheepskin type lining.

I bought my whippet/greyhound (only a bit bigger than a whippet) an Equafleece when she was 9months and it still fits today (rising 5) Just be a little generous with your measuring and they are adjustable anyway. The company are very helpful with sizing.

I made mine a 'lovely' home-made effort from a spare stripy blanket. I put it on, he looked mortified, and refused to move till I took it off again!

I have got a nice cheap one from the Countrywide stores, he still wears it even though it barely reaches his bum!

Ours have equifleece for drying them off, but little lab hates having his legs put in with a passion, so we don't use it much unless camping. We use waterproof Fluoro and reflective Weatherbeetas for the last walk in the field at night, so they don't come in wet. They are great rugs and weren't expensive on ebay.

I saw someone on Facebook that made one for a puppy out of an old coat sleeve, it was great.

We have got coats from Friday Fox for our Italian Greyhounds, been really impressed, and not ridiculously expensive. But i can't remember if they come in at under £20 or not.

I've got a couple of knitted coats from t k max pet section for my teeny little lurcher. Neither cost more than a tenner-were about £7-8 I think! Worth a look!
