If you put him in a cob class I will personally come over and beat you with a broom

he is a M&M, through and through.

but he is not an M+M? he is a part bred which makes him a cob and very difficult to judge in an M+M class.

Are you being cobist?

You cant show him in cob classes unless he's hogged, I would'nt do that so M&M.
If it's just local showing and it's cob type class then you can enter that, it's only at county level you have to hog.

at local level he's a m&m. He's big black and hairy and has an "I may look sweet but me and food are like a crack addict and a tenner" glint in his eye, therefore is a british native.

Great pictures, Murphy looks fantastic. He's a bit inbetweeny like Fudge. You can do both calsses locally, he's ideal for part-bred mountain and moorland or cob classes where traditionals are allowed so you wouldn't have to hog all that lovely mane off. I think he's a bit small to be shown as a show cob anyway

Your local shows use differnet wording such as Cob Type class which means he can enter he is a cob type. They also will put m&m registered or m&m type. You'd have to look at each individual schedule - At our local riding club the cob class is cob type the m&m is registered in that case you could only do cob type

he doesn't "shout-out" Dales/Fell does he?

with the white definitely not.

i'd clip him up, get those feathers off, hog him and show him as a Cob.

He'd be quite smart then.

At 14.1 he is too small to do cob classes - they should exceed 148 cms - and 14.1 is only 143.

He is not the build for a show cob and is most definately an M&M type.

You could have a go at cob type classes which cover show cob and traditional cobs (no they don't have to be coloured).

He is a nice looking chap though and you should be fine in unregistered M&M and cob type classes at shows.

Thanks everyone - some very useful info.

JM07 - i was told he is Dales/Fell cross - but I struggle to believe it because with that mix he certainly shouldn't have that much white. I reckon mummy (a pure fell) had a behind-the-bikesheds with a cob!!

Not sure i could face taking the hair off, I like him hairy

I'll look out for the 'cob type' classes

Bex, mine is half bred Dales

here

and

As you can see she has a white sock, white coronet and a white stripe. Her mother showed at Olympia (Dales) and her sire is a tb - can't remember his at the moment. She is 17hh though so a bit bigger than Murphy

Thank you! Her legs get quite hairy in the winter but she hardly has any in the summer. She definitely got the Dales mane and tail though although as you can see I took the mane off! It doesn't look so appealing on a horse of her size and tbh she actually looks better hogged
smile.gif
She is pony in her brain through and through
