Cob peeps - Cob breeding (not Welsh Cobs ;) )

Just wondering really - do you know your cob's breeding ?

As usual for cobs, mine is a Heinz 57, but I know his breeding.

Not a scooby, I think he's got some Welsh/dales/shire (yes I know he's only 14hh but there is definitely something 'heavy' in there!)/traditional. Would love to know but either way I think he's gorgeous!

The show ones have a good strong dose of irish in there but I heard show cobs are hard to breed for, they're usually a happy result of a nice cross.

My favourite show style cob was a big bit of ID, a bit of TB and a dash of native. He was a star, brilliant hunter but could do a nice dressage test and a bit of SJ'ing. He was a bit of a worrier though and needed a bit of reasuring at times but even when scared he was controllable.

I have not got a clue what my mare is lol, all I know is she came from ireland at 12 years old and the rest I can make up as I go along.

He's pretty much exactly that cross - mostly ID with some TB and IRIP (Connemara back breeding)

He is lovely I's say Welsh too .. very pretty head he has!

Im not 100% sure what the father of my coloured cob is is,except he was of heavy type.,But his mom is a chunky coloured cob.

You can most probably get them parentage tested if they're hairy types!

when I bought my boy I was told he was an 'Irish Bog Horse'!
Not sure exactly what's in there but a lot of shire, possibly some other heavy maybe Clydesdale and not a clue about anything else, but he's definitely the most handsome man in my life!

One of my mares is Heinz57 Irish coblet (Sire) X Shire (Dam).
Mostly the sportier ones seem to have a dash of connie or even trotter in them ... some hackney creeps in too when buying from travellers.

My little girl is a Dales crossed with a Fell we think. She was bought from travellers so they may be some gypsy cob thrown in for good measure too!

I know who my boys' Dam and Sire are but their breeding...who knows??
His Sire Bashful Bobby dazzler is an Elite graded Stallion and the owner doesn't even know his breeding!
All I know is it's a cracking combination

Stinky is by Chance du Vallon and Dolly. I have his breeding three generations back and also one side on the fourth which is The Lob. Tracing gypsy cobs can be done more easily as there is an ever increasing DNA database for them.
