cob people!

If I had it my way it would be clipped out and hogged, but unfortunately the beast has other ideas!!! My cob's mane is pulled (so can be plaited for dressage) and he is clipped out.

mane is plaited legs are grim LOL but ive just started to use pig oil and sulpher and it is working all the grease and mank out!

I dont how ever have much mud.. 2 inchs around the gate very max!

Clipped, but with mane on! I don't like looking after feathers, but I do like a mane :o I don't show, so it doesn't matter to me if he is neither a hogged cob or a trad cob!

I keep mine hairy, well mostly. He has just been clipped and had to be clipped once in the summer as he got too hot but I left his legs and mane natural.

This is a old photo, his mane is a bit longer now and his feathers are thicker when brushed out, he seems to have wavey/curly hair so if not brushed out as my OH says it looks like he has dreds (mane and legs) :o

thankyou everyone you all have fab coblets.

Sorry cant think of your name but person who posted their picture first your cob is fab!! gorgeous!!

Im going to hog and full clip so will post a piccy on

Definately hairy for my girl, mane, feathers and a huge tail, hope these pics work! she's a lot furrier than this now, pics are from the beginning of winter

Definitely very hairy. Double mane, and feathers and tail that sweep the road. Surprisingly, keeps quite clean, partly due to pig oil. The snow was brilliant for making his feathers 'persil' white.

As Nature intended - full mane, tail and feathers. But she's mahogany bay, has beautiful black feather and dead straight mane and tail, so a very beautiful girl - or so her Mum thinks! Can't do pics as I'm not clever.

My coblet is hogged all year round. Feathers are allowed to grow in the winter, she is such a wimp in the cold! Legs neatly clipped in the summer to match the mane. I plait her tail to compete not pull it though as she has nerve damage in her tail and I am supposed to keep her dock warm so on a windy day if it gusts at her bottom and there was no tail hair, her dock would tingle and ache! Nice and short though, can't stand scraggly tails, personal preference.

I'd hog them ALL!!! have even been known to hog my IDxTB (semi-retired) when her rug pulled part of her mane out.

Here's our Cob - Shiney last year with OH aboard and Dark_Knight giving him some final preparation before they went and won their first showing class.

We have always taken off all Shineys hair as he is such a Hottie. :-) OH and he's 24 this year.

why is everyone obsessed with clipping horses? Cobs are meant to be hairy mine has only been clipped once and i hated it.

Ours gets clipped as he sweats terribly just standing in the field. Its just not fair to him to leave him hairy.

Believe me, clipping every 6 weeks throughout summer is not something I love doing. Neither is paying someone to do it.

Clipped (lot off), hogged, neat tail. I love a lovely traditional but George IMOA looks great fully trimmed
