Cobbus not a happy pony!

Cobbus came in this evening on 3 legs! Sore leg was all fat and swollen round the fetlock and had a pounding pulse. Didnt seem to be any form of wound and it wasnt hot.
Que one emergency vet visit.

Pony is too stoic for his own good and after being poked and prodded no good reason was found
So poultice tonight, see if anything comes out by morning and vet will try again.

He does not look amused by his sparkly pink unicorn poultice!

Beautiful poultice. Hope it is successful.

Coloured vetwrap and patterned tape do make poultices and bandaging much more cheerful! A sample from when I had to wrap the ex-racer up with a foot injury rather than a poultice... but we had some fun with it because I needed something to be cheerful about!

Oh no - poor Cobbus! Isn't that just typical - he gets a holiday and on the first day ends up lame with a pink unicorn bandage to add to his embarrassment!

Seriously though, I do hope he improves very soon - sending you positive healing vibes @conniegirl

If I was going to have to have a poultice, a sparkly pink unicorn one is definitely what I would choose.

Another picture, this time pink vet wrap and black tape with silver and gold stars on it!


So we have not yet had any puss but cobbus has ridiculously hard feet (vet struggled and even farrier has had a dig and can’t find anything) i suspect that the abscess is on its way out of his coronet band as he has 2 soft spots that if you prod he flinches (which for him is the equivalent of a normal horse kicking you into orbit)

Tried this evening to soak his foot/leg in hot water and epsom salts to draw anything out. Spent 10 mins trying to convince the princess that the hot water wasn’t going to eat his pretty little toes!
Eventually he stood like an angel for it but getting him to put that hoof in the bucket was hilarious!!
