I wish to take issue with the suggestion that 'coblet' is used purely as a fluffy term of endearment.

As we all know, a 'cob' is not a breed of horse, but a type.

IMO, a 'coblet' is also a type, and refers to small (ish) hairy, solid, cobby type thing, often (but not always) of indeterminable breeding.

And anyway. It's a nice word.

N.B: according to Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=coblet) a coblet is in fact some form of gangster.

and if people don't like me calling shetland ponio then I have a new name for him:

Poninja
A small, skilled bullet-shaped being that wears a cloak exposing only it's face. They have no arms, feet, or legs, only floating hands. Poninjas are experts with any weapon, both prodjectile and melee.

Shitland would also do though, no?

Indeed it would. But as mines a cross between a shetland and a goose (hell hath no fury like him spotting someone in HIS field) I prefer Poninja.

"Ugly" is also a term of endearment....

Shall we all have a Group-Hug and a nice cup of Camomile Tea?

I regularly use "move over you fat lard" as a term of endearment...

...but coblet is a technical term!! "What breed of horse is Murphy?" "oh, I don't really know, native pony x cob or something...he is a coblet". I wonder how I can get it added to the dictionary.

I wouldn't do that...

i'm likely to neck it and cook it

LMAO!

Reminds me of those squished animal roadkill toys on Dragon's Den. Someone buy one for JM07!

I don't have a problem with 'coblet', it reminds me of a good chunky stamp of a cob. Ponio I have used before when P has been endearing.

have you tried badger JM, a vet I used to know used to like badger (roadkill of course) and if he could get any deer in the car that went too.

A lady i hack out with made some comment or other about picking up the dead dear and cooking it...

I thought she was joking, but it wasnt there when i hacked out the next day...

badger "ham" tastes like strong smoked ham TBH..

I hope the guy gutted the deer within 15 minutes of knocking it down...as the meat becomes tainted after that, and inedible..

always carry a decent knife with you in your car...as you never know what wildlife has suicidal tendancies en-route

lol! Ew i couldn't eat something that had been hit by a car, does it not go all bruised, or is that a good thing for tenderising? Should people start tenderising their meat by running it over?

I agree coblet is a technical term, like Cobby. And i love ponininja lol

I must take exception to that....

...mine is not fat.

Or at least i don't think he is. I mean, he isn't to me. Oh, but what if he is? I'm so careful about what I feed him, and I'd never let anyone else feed him. Or touch him.

What was that you said about coblet owners?!

So does that mean the Spooky Pony is really a coblet??
confused.gif
Although his passport says "Irish Cob", he doesn't really look all that cobby to me...I usually just call him a "Random Irish Pony"...opinions, please?
