Hi there,

My wonderful mare has given birth to a lovely filly on Friday 9th March. Incredible thing is that she has now delivered two foals on exactly 331 days gestation at 3am!!

The filly is 3/4 sister to the young stallion who is in France- Conrad De La Vie. She is by World Champion 6 year old Cobra (Carthargo x Landgraf) out of my Pachat II x Sudan BWP jumping mare. She is a little bit special to me as I lost my mare's half brother in January, he was my horse of a lifetime and I had him 9 years.

The filly is very sweet and a bit of monkey. These pics were taken today:

Aww thanks Guys,

Really pleased with her. The mare seems to stamp the markings on! Cobra's do not normally have lots of white.

This is the filly's half brother born 2010 (different Sire):

I assumed the markings came from his Sire as he was marked like that, but then the filly popped out identical!

She needs a pet name- her proper name is Cobrissima. We keep calling her "foaly"!

Any ideas as I have none!

Thank you!!

I should not of said anything as I dont want to hijack this thread. Basically I was able to be there when she foaled, I had to rely on what I was told. Firstly the foal had not suckled therefore he did not get the colostrum. I realised this when I got up there in the evening & he was covered in milk & suffering colostrum burns on his muzzle. Tried to get him to suckle, milked the mare off etc but he was too tired. He had to be tubed & put on a intravenous drip to get fluids into him. Then yesterday I noticed the mare had still not eaten hardfeed & was just not herself, turns out she had retained some of the placenta. As you will know this can lead to blood poisioning, toxic laminitis, & she was lame & had a temperture. She was washed out & given antibiotics, though she perked up when she was washed out again this morning more placenta was found. She has been treated again this pm & does seem to have improved. I think if she had been left to get up in her own time then this would not have happened. He was a big foal & I think she could of been forgiven for feeling a little tired & wanting to rest before rising & feeding her foal. Sometime human interference is more of a hindrance to them.

Thanks Guys,

She is very cute, we are really pleased with her.

Hi Tigers Eye, I love Pachat's I have had two- one was my lifetime horse.

She is on sport horse data:

I try to follow the example of Joris de Brabander bloodline combinations in breeding, but with this filly I went outside the usual box. Really pleased as she is really pretty.

Really happy to say I have sold this filly to a really fantastic professional home. She will have a great future- as breeders it is the best feeling that the progeny ends up in the right hands for their future.

I thought I would put up some pictures from last week:
