General question. I know they all differ and it's near impossible to say for sure, but how much more is a 4yo cob likely to grow / fill out? He's 14.2hh at the moment.

Just looking for experiences, really - when did yours stop?

Growth for all horses generally stops by 5½yrs with the hocks and spine being the last to complete its calcification.

Maturity on the other hand is defined by muscle structure. Some horses take longer to look mature than others

Ron kept growing until he was 7, then filled out until he was about 8 ish.

He grew 3 inches between age 5 and me buying him aged 7 according to the friends I bought him off - I certainly think he grew a couple of inches.

as for growing up.... I'm still waiting! :D

Those of you that have had horse 'grow' after the age of five - were these horses measured officially or just from guaging?

Horses in general do not grow afte the age of five as the growth plates are all fused.

I used an antique measuring stick but the spirit level was broken so it was a guess really.
