What?
dont you hate it when people say this? it drives me nuts
'cobs cant jump there to fat and slow'
nearly every yard you go to there will be at least one person who hates cobs
i have seen many cobs jumping even at bsja theres quite a few nice cobs my mates cob is jumping 4.6ft [14hh cob]
what are you opinions on this 'cobs cant jump'?

its quite silly to pin out a breed just because how it looks and just because its 'bigger'

i love it when people say it .. mainly because im someone who likes to prove others wrong ;)
my D has jumped 1m35 and schooled a course of 1m10
however the new argument is my welsh d isnt a cob =S
at a local show they had a showjumping class for just cobs of any height and i took math in for a laugh and a few girls said maths not a cob ok hes not very stocky but hes a Welsh COB! hhaha but yeah
cobs can jump and i think there pretty good at it =]

i think your right cobs CAN jump :) I know a lady who had a cob that she only used for hunting but it would literally jump anything no matter how high or wide it was. As for my cob the last two nights she has jumped out of her field into the next one as there is a gelding in there and shes in season and shes never even been taught to jump.

COBS :D my first pony was a cob. and then my 138cm JA pony was a cob. they are perfect childrens ponies and make fantastic adults horses. they as agile and as sharp as you need them to be.

Of course they cant jump .. :)

This is a mirage .. ;)

i have a friend that competes 1.10s with a cob, and hes fantastic, he can be abit unpredictable at times and put in a dirty stop but thats just his character!

I love to watch the faces of the people who are up against my daughter! We have an 11.3 cob and last weekend he won the 2ft 3 and 2ft 6 open workers. They were the only cob and the smallest by at least 3 hands everytime.
He regularly jumps 3ft + at home hence I call him flying pig.

i know the feeling and its great!!! when i was out competing, id get a few rude comments like 'why the hell are you here on that'. and id be all smug and usually get placed. i loved being the underdog :)

You should have told that to Harry when he was entire and wanted to get to the mares... Big old field gate was nothing, over he popped. Hoping he'll still be up for that when he's broken hehe!

my cob loves to jump - ive to be so quick putting jumps up in teh school because he sees one and just takes off and goes!!!!!!!!!!! my daughter has to really hold him back to ensure he doesnt cut corners and jump at silly angles - he loves it

Elliebeast - your cob can defanetly jump!!!

My horse, ok, he is not cob, he is friesian but he is still fat and hairy. Of course "friesians cant jump" either. They were breed for pulling carriages and at a push a bit of dressage. not sure why I insist he tries, lol!

It does depend a bit on the cob, my soup plate footed hairy clyde x mare couldn't jump.

No I take that back she wouldn't jump.

On reflection probably more because she was a stubborn miserable old cow not because she was a cob.

:)
