Planning on doing some dressage with my hogged show cob type. Now, i am wearing tweed and colored stock - should she be in a dark colored numnah or a white numnah/saddlecloth?! we are starting prelim this year - just local but would like to be moving up to novice soon after if we get decent scores and maybe go affiliated.
Any pics of there cobs dressage turnout would be good!!
 
I did intro with my boy in tweed and no numnah but have now replaced with a blue jacket and full white saddle cloth.

Cobs are readily accepted at the lower levels as the tests are more about accuracy but it's best IMHO not to try and be too off the mark turnout wise.

Mine is a traddie just to add insult to injury but he has ever been fussed over as much as when we went to dressage :)

If im honest you should be in a navy/black jacket, white/beige stock and white numnah whatever type your horse is, you will get away with tweed at very low levels, but you don't see it at affiliated. :)

Thanks Vanner, he is a superstar we love him so much!
He isnt a "typical" cob, or what people think they are. He is very forward going, up hill, and perfect for dressage, everyone loves him!
We bought him from the sales directly off the travellers, he was terrified, and not broken at 5, because they had found it impossible to get near him, poor boy!!
Hes coming on grand, still a bit tentitive but a total star and we love him very much :D

Tweed is perfectly correct, esp given the type of hourse, it is allowed at affiliated up to and including elem (and you do see it, and it looks v smart!). We are glos area and there are always a few out in tweed, looks lovely!

Under BD rules you can also use a black saddle cloth so not sure what your judge was on that day! Not sure about riding club rules though so maybe you got caught out under those? If your cob is a compact sort then he might suit a numnah rather than a saddlecloth (either in white or to match your saddle)? Black or white (or brown) go, just don't go nuts with colour lol!

I was presuming pc rules were the same where dark colours are allowed so bugger knows!! Although I know the judge - she competes very high level BD !!!

What rubbish!

Friend competes at medium (in navy) and has done Nationals at Elem in tweed on her trad hairy, go to any BD competition during the winter months and there will be people there doing all levels of test sporting the 'lost eventer' look
 
I've competed BD elem and worn black numnah and a tweed jacket , without predjudice on a hogged cob. I don't know where people getsome of these so called rules from!
It's no wonder some people won't try dressage.

I tend to running plait his mane these days as it's a lot longer than in these pics, but I can not find a pic from the side with his plait on anywhere!!!
 
When I did it on my hogged and trimmed mare I wore my tweed and sometimes a white dressage square and sometimes my plain brown showing numnah - both are perfectly acceptable at unaffiliated level and lower level affiliated.
 
You are perfectly correct in tweed and a dark numnah. I wouldn't use a saddle cloth if wearing tweed, I'd keep it discreet. Lots of very professional combinations wear tweed for dressage, especially those who also event or show.
