love a proper cob. Love the trads too but head of a lady/arse of a cook formula doesn't seem common anymore. Big shame. Your girl is lovely.

I have one, teeny tiny pretty head and nice juicy peach ? bum ? She's apparently a 'native' rather than traditional cob and is quite silky feathers and mane. She would hog etc nicely but I enjoy the floof.

I can’t stand hogged horses I think they look awful I have carefully regrown and trained Blues .
I do however clip his legs all year round .

I hogged my cob so she matched me when my hair fell out through chemo. I was still trying to ride (in a fashion) through the treatment. I soon realised that she was far too feminine to be hogged and I had nothing to hold on to when scrambling on and off her ! Big mistake which hasn't been repeated.

I am all for a bit of matchy matchy .
However MrGS really struggled without a mane to use he hated it Blue looks much nicer with a mane although taming it is quite high maintenance it’s getting better now he’s been here a year and a half now .
We use Elnett hairspray when he’s going out on public .

I read that as you put hairspray on your husband ! until I reread it. I use that cheap hair gel from the pound shop to lay it over on my cob and keep it short.

My Blue's the opposite - she looks handsome when hogged and common as muck when I tried letting her get hairy. (Also, her mane was a foot long and still vertical. It was getting difficult to see where we were going.)

If I'm reading correctly your are finished with chemo. If so, congratulations.

As far as manes go, I would have to keep it pulled or else hog and let it start to grow out and then work on it constantly.

When I would braid manes I would use cheap hair gel to help keep it looking good after braiding.

My next door neighbour has a feral cob - unknown breeding. Everything about him screams Gypsy cob - but he has no feather. Not even a little bit! Proper chunky lad with a leg in each corner, long thick mane down to his shoulder and a fabulous thick tail, but isn’t overly hairy on the body in winter!
It’s a shame he’s feral
