Last weekend I reserved my beautiful new puppy! Roxy is a black cocker spaniel with a little bit of white under her chin :) Her dad is a KC registered show cocker, mum is a working cocker both family pets and health checked. Litter was an accidental dog connection just before mum was meant to be spayed.

Mum and dad are both beautiful lovely dogs I loved being able to meet them both and gets lot of cuddles!

Now I have to wait until 1st November to pick my girl up so I'm already planning and browsing all the lovely things I can buy!

My friend (also has a cocker spaniel) has recommended some local training classes that her and her dog loved so we will definitely be going to them when she's ready.

Another friend with a cockerpoo has given me a puppy crate so I can start crate training Roxy when she arrives.

I have a local vet lined up that I'm going to use and will get some of the same food she will be on when she leaves.

Now I just need to get water bowl, food bowl, collar with engraved label, lead, dog bed and lots of chew toys. We already have a dog treat ball that the cat used to use :)

I'm hoping to leave a blanket with Roxy for a few weeks to bring back to my house a week before she arrives to let my young cat get used to the smell of her.

Is there any cocker owners that can pass on any advice to a newbie cocker owner? Anything will be appreciated. I'm excited for her to be grown up so I can have a jogging buddy haha and my mum and dad have a few big fields we can play in when we visit them too :)

Oo how exciting! Cocker puppies are just so scrumptious. Ours is now nearly 3 and has been a joy to own and train. The one piece of advice I would give is to socialise very well from a young age and make sure they get used to not having your undivided attention. Ours can be very needy and doesn't like it when I cuddle another animal....it's manageable but could probably have been avoided.

I am so excited! I've wanted a dog for years but haven't had time due to my horsey duties but now I'm horseless I can finally do it :)

Thanks apercrumbie I have been looking online to see if anywhere local hold puppy parties to socialise, if not I have a few friends with very well socialized dogs that we can meet and play with :) also hoping we can make some friends in the puppy classes too!

maybe have 2 blankets, leave one in with the pups and bring it home with roxy so she has the smell of her littermates with her...dont forget piccies are essential

Puppy broody! There's a pretty liver bitch travelling in the not so flipping quiet coach, owners are having a nice chat with their friend :rolleyes3:

I hope we're treated to many pictures when you get the pup.

Roxy opened her beautiful eyes on the weekend :)

I'm going to see her on Saturday she already looks twice the size of when I went to pick her out so really excited! Her breeder is posting lots of updates and videos for me to see how she's doing which is great.

I have rearranged my house haha! Sorted out where her crate will be going and I've emptied my large under the stairs cupboard so I can put a babygate up instead of the door and give Roxy her own space. I've also been spending time with my friend and her Cocker Spaniel, she gave me a couple of books to read and the number for the lady that she went to for puppy training and obedience bronze level so hopefully I can get booked in for puppy training too!

Just need to wait until November 1st to be able to bring here home
