Hello..just wondering if anyone feeds (or takes) coconut oil? I am trying to source some for myself, dog & horses, sheep & goats.

Tried copra, but would prefer to go with the oil for the ones that aren't on the copra (their preference)..and me! I'm specifically looking for larger sizes of raw, pure, virgin coconut oil..and if its organic, even better.

Please can you tell me how much you feed & how much it costs & where (pm me if worried about slapped wrists!)

I've been using the 283ml jars by 'Groovy' from tesco but between 17 mouths the £6.99 jar doesn't last 5 seconds!(particularly as a certain someone has learn to open the jar & I've woken up to some very contented licking & slurping of happy lips -the blissful closed eyes when he's in coconut trance are worth it every time, so he has to have his own jar & they all have to be kept locked away-would be nice to have some for everyone tho, that is maybe better value if bulk

Thank you very much:)

I buy per kg from eBay. It comes in a plastic bag or I get it from the Nuticentre at the big local Tesco.

It needs to be unrefined and organic to be the best.

The eBay seller is called something like SkinFresh?

There's a firm called coconoil that sells large quantities, no idea if they're reasonable or not, but shipping is free.

What are the benefits you all take it/feed it for?

Oberon has told me at some point but I forget :o I even have a jar from tesco/h&b and remember to use it occasionally :o :D

Not many suppliers in UK it seems... But there are a few which are not expensive and made for skin and hair products!

So cheap in Malaysia! Criminal to see it so expensive here but I guess any import is going to be...

Thank you TallyHo! I've been trying to read the sites on my phone so missed ordering today but they do a food grade which looks really good...I need to get a pen pal in Malaysia!:D (do people still have penpals these days?:D)

Thank you Oberon..more reassuring on quality if someone else has recommended..my Tescos I think must be a small large one!Having a look on ebay now...incidentally how much do you feed(dog/horse-presuming you give to your animals!)

Er..at risk of me going off on a coconut praise singing rant...it will prob be more bearable & factual if you have a look at coconut research centre there is a .com & a .org it list pretty much every ailment/condition coconut can help..dementia included-makes very interesting reading. I took it initially for my hair & skin-internally & making up products so i knew the exact content-I'm allergic to lots of things! I then found how good coconut milk is for sterilising wounds..anti everything really!it really helps me-I have fibromyalgia,Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis & CFS as well as nerve damage(spinal) really takes the edge off the stiff creaky days & is really healthy to cook with..you can lose weight on it! They used to use it for open brain surgery-I've not tried that yet but its good to know!My sheep & goats have it for skin & mobility..my dog for condition & as a treat & for digestion-he's a big boy & came with alot of issues & worries so finds it hard to keep his weight on-he stress sheds but not when he has a chunk/jar to passify him say if I had to leave him with someone to go to the dentist..or to lead my horses to the field (out of his sight) healthy treat too.. the horses, mainly for condition mobility & digestion...and to make up wound treatments...in a nutshell (now you wish you never asked!!)Oh...and it smells/tastes good too!

Right..I have some serious ebaying wish listing to do!Thank you everyone!:D

One of our local farm shops sells it so well worth ringing round your local farm shops. It's about £3 here & I fed it to my horse and my cousins pony a table spoon in each feed..

Hey guys, my sister lives in Malaysia (not the biggest coco oil producing country but they do produce a lot) and I asked her about coconut oil. She said the malaysians themselves don't seem to use much apart from for cooking (they use a hell of a lot of coco milk though!!!!) and for hair and skin but the indians use a lot.

She forwarded me an interesting article from a non-govt controlled site the malaysians use alot.

I know some of you already know the benefits so just adding info really.
