Cold stiff legs?

Pony is not carrying extra weight this year and has been pretty poorly to boot.

She is much better now but seems to be feeling the cold. She is fine of a morning (stabled in 300gm rug!!) but of an evening when coming in she is very slow and stiff. She was stiff in the morning before I increased weight of rug. However she is out in a 180gm rug with no fill neck cover - and has been a bit sweaty in it - her body is warm but her legs seem to be suffering...

Vet and osteo say legs show no signs of arthritis bearing in mind she is late teens. She has been on tumeric for two weeks with no difference.

Any ideas?

Turnout sox? I'm having the exact same problem with my old mare this last couple of weeks and that's what I'm going to try.

I would get her some stable wraps which will dry her legs and keep them warm overnight.

Mrsd - horse is fine after being in stable. The problem is after a days turnout. Not really sure that the stable wraps would do anything for the problem?

My only worry is getting skin infection underneath? She has bad skin and whenevr she has worn brushing boots she has got an infection underneath- are there any that can be recommended?

Equilibrium do equi chaps that are designed to be worn for up to 12 hrs and are breathable.

My 18yr old wears stable wraps at night in stable and in day wears the hardy chaps in field. Find that these really help when it really wet/ cold or both.
