Apologise for rant/moan/had enough and want to sell everything and move to France kind of post. Firstly though I would welcome any input / advice or maybe someone to say its fine you have nothing to worry about.

Started first thing this morning when I found our little sec A with colic. I don't normally panic but having lost my mare a few weeks ago to an acute case of colic which I still haven't got over, I couldn't believe it could happen again. Anyway, I got her out walked around and phoned the vet. She was trembling and sweating a bit but didn't actually seem too bad. The vet came and gave her painkiller but would not give her buscopan as she seemed to be ok. Phew ! I kept her in till midday watching her then let her out for a few hours as the vet had advised. Mum then checked on her later.
When I brought her in this evening I noticed a huge swelling on her jaw line.
Ruled out strangles and checked her thoroughly, she is well, eating as normal with an appetite so I am thinking that it is just a case of grass glands but I've never seen such a swelling before ?? I phoned the vet back and he didn't seem too concerned. Took this photo :-

Together with a loopy dog obsessed with nesting blackbirds, a broody chicken , a daughter on crutches, a miserable cold wet day and going back out shortly to check on the pony I think I have had just about enough.

Sorry. Can't be of any help but hope she's OK. It's horrible when you have a day when everything seems awful!

Yes - probably grass glands. My big horse had similar last week and was also showing colicy signs. Just gave him a couple of Danilon and he was fine! Think the grass is growing nicely and they're making the most of it!

Thanks Fiona & Chamaroo.
Ive just been to check on her and I'm still worried as the swelling seems slightly worse. She is fine in herself and there's healthy poo's in the stable. Will set the alarm clock early and hopefully get some sleep.
