my irish sports horse keeps getting bouts of spasmodic colic, doesnt go 4 weeks scince august without getting a bout, he is recovering from liagament damage in a back and has had shockwave thearpy which is now meking a full recovery and coming back into work, he is wormed up to date and fed accordingly, my vet originally said it was due to the stress of his liagement damage, he has had two lots of bloods run on him and all come back normal, has been brilliant the last week but had a bout of colic last night? any ideas??

Have you tried putting him on a probiotic? My horse is prone to spasmodic colic and he's on Pink Powder all the time now which seems to help.

He has also had a high tapeworm burden in the past which was discovered through the Elisa blood test and I now worm for tapeworm 3 or 4 times per year.

Gastric ulcers...if box rested?

Got to agree - it definitely sounds stress related - Does your horse get bloated/distended? What are the symptoms of his colic?

I completely sympathise with you - We spent months trying to figure out why our mare was colicking - spending nights camped out in her stable - It's completelyl heartbreaking and soul destroying

Ditto Shilasdair..my mare's suffered 4 bouts of spasmodic colic in the space of 5 months this year (had never had it before in her life). Ended up at Leahurst where it was discovered she'd got gastric ulcers.
