coll. ligament vs chronic bruising

Yes! My boy came in chronically lame from field last May, had had farrier that day so when emergency vet came feet were our first thought! Although he had negative hoof test etc we went for bruised soles. Xrayed next day and found to have low pedal bone & paper thin soles so it all seemed to add up. Remedial shoeing and 4 months later was still lame. Finally went up to have MRI and it showed collateral ligament damage :-0 Has just come back in to work and has now done his suspensories!! Tb's, who'd have em??!

A similar story as above, my TB was on/off lame over a period of months and vets diagnosed chronic bruising. MRI revealed soft tissue damage within the foot.

PS Thermidor - my boy did it the other way round. Suspensories when he was 5yrs old, then collaterals finally diagnosed at 8yrs old.

Marchtime, how long did it take yours to heal from suspensories and did you get back to what you were doing before? We are having shockwave and cartrophen, also on 6 weeks box rest then re-scanned. Only a week in so far :-O

Or WBs! My horse did his collateral ligament in 2006 which resulted in an arthoscopy, up to his knee in a cast and about 5 months box rest. Came back into work fine and dandy but decided to do his suspensories in 2009! Shockwave and Adequan injections. He had about 8 weeks box rest but was allowed to walk in hand throughout all of that. After the shockwave treatment we began to build that up to about 45 mins then I got back on board (it was getting too long a walk for me!:p) Back in work after that and last year it was hock spavins, but those are sorted. Wonder what the Summer of 2011 will bring?;)

Loodi-doodi we have also had hock spavins treated last summer! Then last sept he got kicked in the field and had a suspected fractured radius- 2 weeks cross tied at vets! It was after this that the MRI was done as he was still so lame after being in, he really is the vets best friend :-D My insurance company have been fantastic :-)
