Horse has had about 19-20 weeks of box rest with laterally an hour turnout in stable size pen plus 50 min- 1hr of walking hacking.
Hopefully at a stage once re/scanned we might be able to start a rehab program.

What would you suggest, has anyone rehabbed a horse with a collateral lig injury ? No tears, vet described injury as a ‘turned’ ankle.
Don’t want to rush things obviously but an idea of rehab content would be very helpful. Vet or Physio best option ?

I am the yard manager at a rehab yard, and we have had success with swimming horses who have had a collateral ligament injury. It allows them to build strength without concussion or weight bearing. It’s a long road. But definitely doable!

Going through this with my horse at the moment she had 3 months box rest with 10 mins of walking,we have now started 3 months of tiny paddock. Been told will take a year to properly heal. All being well around 9 months rehab I can start walking her for 20 mins for another 3 months. She’s had remidial shoes on for 6 months moving to egg bars with next shoeing. So far she is sound so fingers crossed
