Hi anyone got any experience of this injury?? Good or bad? My horse has damage to left fore. Vet has injected with steroids. Box rest for a week then trot up.
Mine never came sound enough to sustain any work. He would appear sound in the field and on trotting up, but trying to build up any significant trot work in the school would result in lameness again. We persevered for a few years- lots of walking and introducing trot over many patient months, but the outcome was always the same.
He could have probably coped fine for light hacking but he had an extremely active brain and needed a job or he'd deck you.
He lived a wonderful life as a field ornament/general god of the horse kingdom, until I had to put him to sleep last June after complications arising from cancer of his sheath.
I had one. It was frustrating as even when he was lame he was sound enough to score well at dressage, but just felt slightly off.
He was injected, rested and brought back, and he did a couple of events, but then went wrong again. Injected again, went barefoot, rested and walked only for 4 months, but as soon as he did any level of work it would crop up again.
He went to a primarily hacking home, where he also does some BD, but not much. He is very happy to sustain that level of work even some 6 years later.
