Collected puppy today.....and straight to the vets!

She was indeed kept on straw.

We buy about 90 tonnes of straw in every August for our cows bedding. I use if for the horses and I have never seen fleas in it at all.

Surely she has gotten her fleas from the mother, who I would expect wasn't treated for them as she lives outside as well.

I have deja vue. I'm sure you've asked me that before.

I have spoken to the vet. He weighed and wormed them on Tuesday when he vaccinated, so they were definitely done.

He said to worm her again in 10 days with Drontal puppy or he could jab her with something when she has her second vaccination on the 26th.

Haha, yeh but you weren't sure then. YAY! They really are the best..........except I have so many people, mainly children, come up to me asking what happened to his eye and is he blind!

. I wouldnt fuss too much about her being too young, as if she came from a farm it may be just the age they've found is best. Loads of farmers take them from their mother at 6 or 7 weeks. I would say, however, that if this breeder is registered with whatever society I would be less than impressed by the disgusting state of that area they were in with the mother. I know they had a 'reason' but TBH a bucket of jeyes thrown over the area and swept doesnt take five minutes. If they're breeders then TBh they should have a decent enough kennel area to be able to keep it hygenic and clear.
Yes, fleas do live in straw but farm animals such as cows, sheep horses cannot catch fleas. Where you have straw you have rats, and rats carry fleas...

good luck with her, she looks a nice sort and is in good hands now. Look foward to lots of photos over the coming months
