college dissertation - bone spavin

For my college dissertation i have decided to base it on the management of bone spavin and how it effects the horses performance.
I am looking for the different management methods people use and in what way the condition has effected the horses.
I was wondering if anybody had any information regarding this subject that would be useful for me to carry out my studies.

I have 16 yo Irish Sports mare who had bone spavin diagnosed last year in both hocks, one worse than the other in as much as one had already almost fused so was causing less pain, and the other still had not fused.

So she had steroid injections and a long course of Danilon and the advice was to work her quite hard and regularly to encourage the joint to fuse.

The improvement was really quick, only a month or two until she came off the Danilon sound. I believe it can take a lot longer. Others I know have had Tildren but the horse hasn't come right, but I expect you will find with every approach, it will work for some and not others.
