What a crap day! But thank god it didn't rain today as bad as it rained yesterday
We took Olympic and Cazzas' horse Brooklyn along again today and Brookie went in the 1m Am Champs class and Olympic went in the 1.05m open. The day was a bit of a disaster and was so long, the arena party took ages in between rounds to put fences back up and kept missing fallen poles and were just generally rubbish, the guys who were pole picking last time we were there were so much better.
Brooklyn went in to jump and she was not a happy bunny at all
so we're going to make some tack adjustments and we hope she'll start going a bit better once we've done that.
Mr. Gay UK's class was next and I warmed him up far too early
and when we went in for our round we were walking around for about 3 minutes while the fences which were taken out from the previous round were put back up. He out jumped me over the first fence (again!
), the second was a narrow stile (sp?) which he tried to duck out of and we lost our mojo and he clouted it. He popped through fence 3 (a double of uprights) well and jumped over 4 and 5 (oxer and upright planks). The stride coming into 6 (another double of uprights) was a bit crap and I either had to hold for 3 short strides and get in deep, where he would have probably clouted the top pole of the first element , or push for 2 longer strides and risk him flattening over the fence............I chose the longer strides.........He took out the top pole......But he jumped fences 7 (oxer) and 8 (upright of planks) spot on. He was being a sod again and was trying to run on and was pulling a fair bit and I couldn't keep the rhythm which was a pain so the plan of action at our next outing is to scare the living sh1t out of myself and jump a NC or a 1.10m open (
) because he seems to behave for a bit if he goes up a height!
I'll put links to the photo's when they're up online (theres a cracking one of Brooklyn and I which Cazza bought for it's entertainment value!).
