Well been a bit home sick last few days but getting ust to college life and have made some great new friends :p so i found out today that every Wednesday afternoon is "a afternoon off" :D so i can go home and ride my babies then come back in the evening for yard duties, i nearly jumped for joy in the lesson when my tutor told me that :D

As this is my 1st week at college we don't do yard duties this week, so after 4:00pm we do what we want and we don't have to start lessons until 9:30am (only this week though) so tomorrow i am going home at lunch and then staying at home all day and all night then back to college next day :D:D:D

As you can i am over the moon and can't wait to ride my boys :D:D:D:D

xxxxx

Sounds fab! College is a big step so really pleased you are settling in and enjoying the experience! Ace that you can head home on weds too, nice bit of home cooking is always good as well as seeing your boys!

Thanks, it is :D Sunday and Monday i was crying eyes out saying "i don't want to board" now i like it but so glad i can go see my boys, and my family and great home cooking!! x

It will take a while to settle in. I bet come the holidays you won't want to move home and loose your independance!! Nice balance to be able to stay at college, but still have time during the week to ride too - perfect!

Yeah i know what you mean, woke up this morning a bit teary but was fine :D Yep, nice to be independent but also great that i can go home 2 :D I have the best of both worlds, very lucky :D x

Ha ha!! LOL - Just wait hun till they've worked your sweet little butt off coz they will, believe me. My boy was on loan to an equestrian college last year and in September all the students were mega enthusiastic, just gagging to get to muck out. Then by the end of the academic year everyone was sick to the back teeth of mucking out, tack cleaning, poo picking .... the list goes on and on.

Jus you wait till the dark evenings and cold mornings kick in, coz I guarantee you'll never ever want to look a stable broom in the face again!

Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm, but I've seen it happen. Enjoy your new-found enthusiasm while it lasts!!! Good luck.

If Hartpury is anything like the college I went to, you will end up hating yard duties. The weekends are the worst. We had to be there at 6.30 and didnt finish till 5pm with hour for lunch and 30min breakfast. The mucking out was fine, it was all the jobs like weeding that we had to do to fill the time when we had nothing to do! We wernt allowed to take a break and have a cup of tea or anything. And the sweeping... I was sick of a broom by the end of the year.

Because I lived in I was allowed to do the late check at 8pm so took an hour off my weekend for every late check I did which made the weekends more bareable.

Thanks, i now feel wonderful :p Only Joking, i know what you mean, luckily i am doing the breeding course so less tack to clean as not riding 1st year and also mainly foals, broodmares and stallions. I bet next week i will be like "I either love it" or "i am soooooo tired" lol :p x

I remember came for 3 days in February was shattered by the end as all we did was clean stables and sweep yard but this was the manangment (main yard) so don't know whether stud yard will be different!! x

Did you go to Warwickshire College by any chance? They changed it now so that weekends you start at 8am, till about 4-4:30pm and then late check at 7pm ish and it only takes 15 minutes. Also weekdays all start on 9:30 when not on early lates, and 7:30 if you are on early lates, finishing at 5:30pm. You also now only have to do 4 weeks of it, they told us they used to do a LOT more.

You will enjoy it, I loved Stud so I'm sure you'll love that side :) I wouldn't think too much on the whole yard jobs as you soon get into the swing of it all :)

Warwickshire College :) I loved stud because I got to go to Twemlows in second year on Stud placement, was amazing and learnt loads. Got some friends going to Hartpury for uni in the next week or so :D
