Well it started off well...
He was really good to get ready including doing his front plait (he sometimes tries to knock me off the stool!), loaded him and set off, M25 was clear until we got onto the Essex stretch and from there is took us 3 and a half hours to get to the College!
We missed the first test and so OH got on ready for the second test and warmed up, just the one hairy moment when he exploded into canter but otherwise he looked very nice and controlled.
Did a really nice test, just a little tense at times but the judge didn't really seem to like him and he got 64% with a 6 for his paces
and came 4th.
After much deliberation we decided to put him in the Elementary 50. Now talk about drop him in the deepend, but we are planning on doing 6-y-o classes this year which are of the same standard it was a case of do or die.
Blitz is lovely but has a tendancy to be a little lazy so this would really test him and see what he was capable of!
He was fab! He got just under 63% with several 8s for his trot and walk work, just his canter let him down as the simple changes and 10m circles in canter were just a bit too much for him at the moment. The comments were lovely with 8 for his paces!
I think the judge knew we had missed the novice and had taken a late entry as she said it was a promising start but a little more preparation is needed for the canter work but there was a lot to like!
There were some real WOW monents, especially in the collected canter.
