My collie, he is now 12 has sometimes barked when we go out and leave him, got back today to hear him barking.
He has another dog they have been together for 5 years.
Any tips as I suspect it is linked to us leaving him, he is used to going most places with me,
I've moved recently and don't want to upset my new neighbours , even though their TV is stupidly loud and I can hear it through the wall!!

My collie barks rather manically when I go out - solved by giving her a chew just before I go out the door. She either comes with me or gets a chew so she's happy and not distressed/barking as I go out.

I will watch your thread with interest - my Collie barks like mad when I go out without her, even though she has another dog with her who is not bothered at all. I have tried giving her a chew, exercising her hard before I go .... nothing works and she is getting worse!
Good Luck with yours.

I wonder if he is going deaf? Might be worth setting up a recorder to hear how much he does bark, maybe go and speak to your neighbours in a proactive way so they know you are trying to sort it.

My old dog did this when he got older.
I used to leave the tv on for him and leave a stuffed Kong along with a dap diffuser. I also always walked him before leaving.
He only did it when he got old so maybe he was a bit deaf.

I set up a voice activated dictaphone to find out how much he barked and was horrified to find he barked the whole time I was out.
He had another dog for company too.
Good luck, I know it's difficult when they do this.
