colour changing bays?!

I have only had Bailey since December and she is black with a brown nose (that sounds terrible!), and a couple of lighter streaks on her bum, each side of her tail. Can't wait to see what colour she will go.

Here she is, ignore the state of her tail, I trimmed it and it was uneven, so I trimmed it a bit more and it was uneven, so I trimmed it a bit more.......... you get the idea

Winter Almost black:

Summer: Very orange, in fact more so than it looks in this picture.

Mollie's not clipped. Her winter coat's been quite mahogany coloured. At present she's going darker but I know she'll be paler and brighter (with lovely dapples) when her summer coat's here.

Oh yes!! The dapples!! Just love them on my dark bay mare. Whatever colour she goes to at whatever time of year, she is just yummy!!

Ok i know this is an old post im reviving but its quite interesting, wondering what everyones horse looks like now (mines abit of a drowned rat at the moment with all this rain!

Ive got a TB x ID who in winter goes almost black, turns smokey after being clipped but has total blonde almost white whiskery bits on his legs which grow to about 4inches!! (the ID showing through) in spring he is still dark but hints of red coming through.. And in Summer he looks like a dappled dun, dark shoulders! leg stripes, wither stripes the lot... but no dorsal stripe! i had to look very hard last summer just to make sure..

Clip growing out and unclipped bit shedding, looking at this point like he could go dark but lighter bits in places too..

Summer coat almost through - just a darker bit left on his quarters

Mine is mud coloured in the winter ( but bright bay under the mud) and is just getting her summer dapples.

Coat's a bit later coming through this year with the cold but he's got the same pattern of his rump staying darker last.
