Colour experts- will she go piebald ?

Dolly is getting her adult coat through and just wondering what you think she will end up like piebald ? tri-coloured ?

I'm no colour expert but are her tail and knees black? ie if she hadn't got white bits, would she be bay?

Her tail has brown, white and black in it ! Her knees have gone black but again they have patches of brown and white in them

I'd say she will stay skewbald, just a darker skewbald

She isn't piebald and won't ever be. She's skewbald

There is actually no such thing as tri coloured, you get bays with white patches (like skewbalds with black points) but horses don't have brown and white and black body patches.

Yes they do, we have one on my yard.

Then it's chimeric. Quite rare to see.

I also say a nice strong skewbald with varying browns

My piebalds have always started very mousey "skewbald", whereas your filly's colour is already very striking!

I would love to see a picture too I've only ever seen one horse with 3 distinct different body colours in my lifetime and it was pretty neat to see. I've seen a number of other chimeric horses but they were all more mottled/brindled than clear-cut separation of colours.
