I have a 15hh Arab x Connemara (Grey) he would be shown in the M&M part-bred classes at local and country level when he gets back up to showing standard, should he have a white girth or a brown girth? I have a brown showing saddle with a brown double bridle, and help please x

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon, but I was of the understanding that the girth should be in contrast to the horse to show off the shoulder - so I'd go brown.

For horses white girths are usually the reserve of hacks. For PB classes you usually turn out to type so are you going to turn out as a hack? (given breeding I imagine he could be of that type)

Correct answer - but possibly not entirely the definition OP was looking for. Part bred horses are shown in 3 categories. The Hack is the finest - as close to a TB as possible. A riding horse is deeper girthed, often cross TB for quality but more substantial than a hack. And then a hunter which is more substantial still. Riding horses tend to move with a bit more power to them than a hack. The difference is - unless you are an expert -fairly slight and it is quite easy to turn out for the wrong one.

Well yes, in my first post as the OP was intending to aim for county showing I had possibly wrongly presumed that they were aware of the different types of show horses.

OP how about you put some pictures up so we can see what would suit?

no facebook is good, I do facebook ;)

if you open the picture, right click, copy image address and post that here with the img tags that should work :) The current codes don't look long enough, should look like this ... the forum insists on making that a URL

I would use a leather (brown) girth personally however some hack types are shown in a white girth.
You cannot be incorrect with a leather girth, to be honest.
