Doing passport/breed registration information for our filly foal born 01-06-12 and would like some advice on what colour you think she will end up.

We are thinking buckskin & white, your thoughts??

Dam - Smokey Palomino
Sire - Dark bay & white (tobiano)

Thanks :)

I think we are going with the name ‘Rostor Bucks Fizz’ staying with our drinks theme and Freya at home (on request from my niece)

Would probably say buckskin tobiano, has she any hint of black in the crest of the mane or a stripe on the tan bit of the croup?

Were either or both parents colour typed?

I would also go with buckskin tobiano being most likely, but lovely foal regardless :D

Thanks :) neither parent’s have been colour typed.

Thanks, she has black in mane around the poll, forelock and tail. No strip on croup but buckskins don’t always have these only dun's or am I confused?!! If she didn't have the black I would say she was more palomino and white as I have found buckskins to be a darker tan colour

i don't understand the significance of the black in her mane? dorsal stripes and barring/zebera stripes are a characteristic of the dun gene. My filly has a black and white mane, and a salt and pepper tail! :D

she may darken a bit as she gets a bit older and sheds her foaly coat. willow was born very pale, just like yours, and then went darker in some areas. ;) she does change tone through the year, just as her bucksin mother does. ;)

i am off to google the stallion now! :D she looks lovely. ;)
