Hi, sorry to be a pain but could somebody post the link to the site where you can get the foal colour predictions? Many Thanks, Sally

If a stallion is a true breeding bay why does that he can he can throw a grey?? and how can greys be a true breeding bay?
We are breeding from Todgie this year and most definately do not want a grey. (Both parents are dark bay, but we could still get a grey! damn!)

Nothing against greys! Todgie's owner is a man, and a lazy one at that! He wouldn't appreciate cleaning a grey! (to be honest neither would I after christian)

I never understand these genetic things!!!! I like greys but then im slightly biased!!!

Grey is dominant. If neither parent is grey, you *can't* get a grey. Anyone who tells you anything different doesn't understand colour genetics.

Bay is a different gene (there are 11 different colour genes). It modifies a black horse by restricting the black to the points. SO a horse may carry the grey gene and the bay gene and it may be genetically bay but the grey gene will cause the colour granules to be lost from the hairs, thus leaving the coat grey. It *might* be a dark-maned grey, but that's hardly the point.

so, to be clear bayxbay can end up with:
bay
black
black/brown (which is actually a very, very dark bay)
or the various degrees of chestnut

white distribution depends on a different set of genes and so you may have varying amounts of white on face or legs, depending on the parentage

but never grey
