I’m clueless with horse colours, give me poodles or dogs in general and I’m spot on, horses - nope

I’m tentatively thinking about putting my black (not colour tested) Fell in foal, will have to double check but I think she’s from all black lines. Is there any way to guarantee a bay foal? Colour isn’t a priority by any means but I’d really love a bay. Failing a guaranteed bay, what do I need to look for to give me the highest chances?

Any info would be great, thanks ?

I haven't a clue. Maybe post again tomorrow if you don't get any answers because not many people are on here now.

Yes if you bred to an AA stallion.
I think given breeding you can fairly safely presume mare is EE so sire Extension doesn't matter, only Agouti status.
Though if you wanted a pure fell not sure how many there would be given the propensity to black.

Thank you! Getting a bit late this year, might have a look and see if there's any options for 2022.

The majority of fells are not colour tested I don't think so it might be a bit of a shot in the dark. I think Murthwaite might stand a bay stallion and Roandale I think have a bay roan.

Try asking about bay stallions on the Fell Pony Facebook page, they might know one standing.
Roandale is unsurprisingly a Dales pony stud and sadly the Murthwaite stud was dispersed in 2015 after Thomas Capstick died.

Already on the case on fb ? I have a couple of potential leads so we’ll see what comes of them. As I say, colour isn’t the priority but I would really love a bay colt. Having said that, I have two bays so a black would even them out!
