Colour question

I always understand that roans do have darker points, ie: bay - black points, strawberry/red/chestnut - red points, blue - black points.

Saying that, my bay roan could easily be mistaken for an ordinary grey, except that at 20 years of age her mane and tail would have greyed out and they haven't. She doesn't have dark legs.
