Now I love coloureds - especially the traditional hairy types, is it just me or are the prices unbelievable - http://www.colouredcontacts.co.uk/viewitem.php?id=9876
Even though she is gorgeous - just think what else you could buy for that money

Blimey don't think I would pay that (even if I had the money). Luckily I got my piebald 6yrs ago (before they got popular!!!), not that I wanted a coloured in particular, she just ticked all the boxes.

Ok that horse is absolutely gorgeous and has obviously done a lot BUT there is no way I would pay that amount for it!!
I bought my coloured 4 years ago for probably too much than he was worth! Wasn't looking for a coloured in particular but just fell in love with him on the first time I rode him!!

I think she is lovely, and really think she is worth the money, she has done so much and won so much, done really well.

With regards to you saying what people could buy for that money, yes if you wanted an eventer or aSJer then you would spend it on the horse you wanted, but some people would be looking into all its wins and want something like her and want to pay for that.

They had a lovely coloured in horse and hound this week which was £12K, it was 14.2 Dressage pony!

The people who buy that horse probably would not think that £8.5k on a showjumper would be worth it! This is a proven coloured show horse - not my cup of tea, but I know plenty of people who rate her!

my word! I understand that if a coloured is symmetrical it also commands a higher price, is this right?

Just wonder though has that mare really got 11" of bone? Looks a bit light personally, but then she has the feather which is covering up the view. She's classed as a heavy weight - not sure she'd carry our huntsman for long!

I actually wonder if any of these horses are getting sold. If you open up the H&H on a thurs and see all the horses with price tags of £3000 and £5000 + it's a wonder. What happened to the general purpose horse for around the £2000 mark?

OMG now I wish I'd kept my 6 y.o. coloured cob Magpie who I bought about 11 years ago off the gypsies for £1,500 with coloured filly at foot! Plus she was totally bombproof, ride/drive, pulled a bow-top caravan all day, no hassle and tethered at the side of any road....I wonder where she & filly are now...??

Have any of you been to the gypsy horse sales? A filly will often go for £10 k plus, stallions for £50 k plus.

Friend has a very nice yearling by Tonka - not coloured and has just turned down £25k for him. Nice skewbald filly she paid £9,500.

Gypsy horses of the right type and breeding are fetching huge prices - pity I had Chancer cut, his close relatives are fetching huge amounts in the States.
