Can anyone help me please?! I'm hoping to take one of the foals to a show next weekend, most probably Phoenix (skewbald), and she'll do the in-hand coloured class. My questions are-

Does she and mum need to be plaited (mum is a Reg'd NF though, but Phoenix is a WB x NF)?
Does she and mum need to wear coloured browbands?

Any other advice MUCH appreciated!

Coloureds should be turned out according to type, so if the mare is a NF then she should be shown unplaited, but the foal should possibly be shown plaited if it is happy with this being done. If the mare isn't terribly native looking, then it may look better to plait her as well. I would have plain browbands for both of them. It is correct for the mare to be plain, and will not make much difference as far as the foal is concerned.
Good luck!

In the coloured classes i have seen all the mares were plaited and so was the winning foal (coloured) we would have palited both our mare and foal if we had shown them, most mares were wearing plain leather double bridles and foals plain leather slips. hope that helps
