Coloured or hunter class!?

Hi,

Any help or advice would be great. I am looking forward to a summer of lots of showing and my boy is coming on really well. I just have a slight problem with his 'type' ideally I would be doing maxi cobs or cob classes with an open height limit but locally these are proving hard to find. I hunt him through the winter which he is fantastic at will stay at the front all day and jump anything. When there are workers I enter these but they are missing from a lot of scheduals for some reason.

I was slightly put off last year when a judge was really off with me for being in a hunter class. I feel like I do not have much of an option though, he is blue and white but with few markings and very faded. When there isn't a cob class of open height to enter do you think I would be better entering a hunter class or coloured class!?! He is 16.1 and I have put some pics up. So I feel like a bit of an imposter in these classes, hmm. Please help! Thank you

He is a cob really - and although local showing may accept cobs in the hunter classes, as he is hogged as well, it may be a bit difficult to get away with it. If you did working hunter you would get away with it more, as this is generally open to more "types" and is more dependant upon performance.
 
Depends what level you are doing and how strict they are! You should get in for hunter though! Cobs aren't really my thing, but he is stunning!
He doesn't have the feathers and he looks really healthy and well set...I wouldn't frown upon him being in a hunter class!
Could you do working hunter?
You look really happy in all the photos..dont let the silly judges get you down!
 
I would try your luck in a hunter class, just cos he is a cob doesn't let him down! I know a couple of very successful over height cobs in hunter classes especially in the worjers! After all hunter is a type not a breed!
 
Thanks everyone! He is my dude of a maxi cob but a great hunter too. Just makes me a bit grrr when I am up against people who are anti hunting and wouldn't even do it, even a mock.

I am only doing local stuff and will always be in the cob classes when there isn't a restricted height but it is hard to find them and a lot of the shows I am planning on going to haven't even got workers this year grrr!!! What is going on with the world!! Thank you everyone, hope you all have a great season and lots of fun!!
 
Personally I wouldn't show him in hunter classes unless your prepared to grow out and plait his mane - you could end up at the bottom of the line a lot of the time, despite him being a lovely horse.

If you want extra classes, look out for riding club horse classes and equitation etc.
 
he is very handsome! at local level it seems like pretty much anything goes, I think he'd be fine in working hunter
