Both these horse have run! one on the flat one NH so before you go on make sure you know what your talking about I choose to call our Horse a racehorse because thats his Job like calling a horse a show jumper or like some people call them selves eventers when they watch them!
We bred Angrove rumbaba to be a racehorse just a coloured one
Bonny..... Get lost!
Shut up
Do one!
Good luck angrove, I follow you on Facebook aswell!
I think outbreeding would be needed at some point for TB health wouldn't it, to dilute some of the less desirable traits like crappy feet etc.
I don't think I'll make it up to see him, but might be able to persuade the OH - otherwise have a great day on sunday![]()
*thread killer!*
At the end of the day, you have done whats best by the horse. If its not ready, don't race it. Its called being a good owner. End of.
As for not being a racehorse, he is a horse in training with a racehorse trainer and weatherbys registered, which makes him more of a racehorse than 'any horse on the gallops'.
Finally, I think his type and breeding would be suited to jump racing. He is a nice strong type with could confo. Personally, the op should be more worried about racing the horse when its ready, and if thats not until he is older then thats fine.
Have you got any pics of him schooling over a fence??![]()
I'd love to see him on a track, no reason why in the right races he should not do well and it would be great to have a horse that is easy to spot to follow!
My thoughts exactly, I am rubbish at picking a winner, I usualy go for the one with the biggest white blaze or the whitest socks. It sound so exciting. As as for Bonny saying he is not a racehorse - nonsense, millions of TB's dont make it to the track but are still ex racehorses.
Best of luck to Rummy
how can a horse be an exracehorse without ever being a racehorse ? By that logic every horse in the land can be called an exracehorse !
You can disagree with what I'm saying if you like but it's a fact that this horse has never run despite a long time in training and until he does he is not a racehorse. People have been trying for years to breed coloured rachorses and failed. Breeding a rachorse involves breeding 2 tb's, not using a coloured mare and a tb stallion and until there is evidence to the contrary I for one don't believe breeding racehorse's based on colour is anything other than a gimmick. If you want performance, use a proven race mare. I doubt this horse will ever run, much better for the stud and selling syndications if he doesn't. Call me a cynic but that's my opinion.
I can understand Bonny's (less than popular) point of view... By that definition my TB is a racehorse... Weatherby's reg, race training n' all that jazz... But he never actually raced so imo he isn't 'a' or 'ex' racehorse even if the dictionary suggests differently...I was training many moons ago to join my cousin in the NY marathon for charity... Broke my ankle and never made it there or to one since... I could hardly call myself a marathon runner...
Just different people's interpretation of the difference between potential and actual experience I guess...![]()
I follow him on FB and love to hear how he's doing, think he's a stunning chap and wish you every good luck with him. Most of us on here have faith in him and you.
