Just wanting a bit of help really as my mare wont be doing much if any jumping this year as only 4 im thinking about having a go at a few ridden coloured classes to get her out and about but having never done showing before im not sure what to wear or even if she has the right sort of markings for this??

was thinking tweed jacket and cream jods for me and snaffle bridal with breastplait as we may need something to hold onto as still a baby lol with no martingale tho and plain white numnah for her would this be okay?? has also included a pic to see if you think she would do okayish in a coloured class as not sure what they look for or if we may be better just having a go at some ridden horse classes..

any help or info would be great

You'd need a discreet numnah the same colour as your saddle, and no breastplate. You could have a small 'grab strap' attached between the D-rings of the saddle instead if you think you might need something to grab onto?
She's beautiful by the way!

do all the classes you can to get her experience :-) shes pretty btw! you could also poss do lw hunter. shouldnt really have a breastplate on for showing BUT you can say to the judge shes just started going to shows, theyll poss stil mark you down for it but hey, its all experience. good luck :-)

aww so a plain white numnah would be better than a saddlecloth?? think we may defo need something to hold onto has only been to 2 local dressage comps and will imagine will be much more going on at a bigger show.. will wearing a breastpalte go against us??

If its just a local show I wouldn't stress too much about the intricacies of what to wear. Just wear smart show gear! There's always the 'correct' dress code for certain classes but every show I've been to there's always loads of people who are wearing something different.

Have fun!

A close fitting numnah, the same colour as your saddle - not white.
Your tweed is lovely (its the same as mine LOL), I can't really see the colour of your shirt, but cream generally looks smart. Pick up a tie which tones in with the tweed (mine is red silk tie. with little yellow flowers, from ebay). I get my shirts from ASDA mens department, they are quite cheap.
Brown gloves and shiney boots.
Navy velvet hat, but don't stress if yours isn't. Just be smart and clean.
Have fun

Hello, a lovely looking mare - I'm sure she'll do well.
I'll list just a few pointers for you to consider:

No martingale please,
I prefer flesh coloured gloves - but dark is fine,
White Girth would look better than dark as your mare is white where the girth will go,
Plain white numnah; put a gel pad underneath if it needs extra padding,
No brushing boots in the arena, but you can use them in the warm up if you really need them,
White/cream shirt with tie (any pattern or plain - mine matches the fine coloured stitching in the tweed jacket)
and finally, hair in a hair-net.

These are just a few pointers that I've learn't out showing - good luck, and remember just have FUN!

Take a look at some of the affiliated shows to give you an idea on dress code/tack etc. "Equinational" "Fred the Cat" photographers. But from what I can see I would make the following changes:

Plain velvet hat with flesh coloured harness
Remove martingale stoppers from reins
Pop her on a conditioning balancer like BlueChip or similar
No breastplate or martingale
Plain snaffle bridle with cavesson noseband
Shorten her tail to sit just below the hock when carried
Trim excess facial hair - looks like she needs a good shave!
Plain numnah - not a saddle cloth! Discrete and either white or brown - I prefer brown to match the saddle but it must not stick out the sides too far.

I like here - colouring is good and she is a nice type - She does need to be going well though even as a baby.

WOW so much to change, Mc Naughty she is already on a conditioning cubes and i understand she does need more condition on but atm shes a very big 16.3 gangerly girl and everything seems to be growing up rather than out..

cant really see in pic but my stock matches the lighter blue in the hacking jacket will this do?? so is the breastplate a defo no on, could i get away with wearing a neck strap then if need be??

Thank you all help she's Dutch WB X TB btw

I have previously entered a showing class with a hunter style breast plate on (and I wasn't the only one in the class with one either).
If you are entering to win then consider making all the amendments suggested, if you are going along to give her experience and have fun then I wouldn't worry too much. The key ones are no flash nosebands, no martingales and discreet numnah. A well moving, tidy horse will do better than one that's perfectly turned out but moves like a sack of spuds!
