Coloured Stallion Orlando

Thats my horses grandsire or is great grandsire (if I remeber rightly...would have to look at his sires pedigree) and yes I do have some pics somewhere....hang on
 
Hi we were the owners of Orlando, we have lots of pictures of him and have the last of his young stock turned out on our fields. Unfortunately Orlando was put to sleep end of last year 2009 (undoubtedly one of the saddest things we have ever had to do) an end of a fantastic time of 17 years standing with us and many more years in his life. As everyone knows he produced some great horses including one of his youngstock winning HOYS love to hear from anyone who has stories of his progeny.

Orlando was the grandsire of my former beautiful mare. Without doubt she was the most intelligent horse I've ever had, kind and tolerant to her riders and moved like a ballerina.
 
One on the yard by Oberon. There will never be another by that sire! Attitude does not even come close and if he was still ours and not a livery I think he would be in a tin!

Hi, i have an 8yr old mare by Orlando, she is piebald extremely talanted, massive jump, currantly Intermediate level on the eventing field. I have one photo of her sire and she looks completely like him. Have had her for 7yrs since a yearling, would love to know more about him,she will jump anything and never puts a stop in, can i get in touch with you re. Orlando.? So sorry we have lost him.
 
Hi, I know this thread has been going for a while, but I'm compelled to tap in as, many moons ago, I looked after Orlando when he was owned by Margot Thompson, she had him from the Queen. He was bred as a drum horse but wasnt heavy enough. He was a stunner! He arrived to us aged 4, 16.3hh, 4 white legs to die for! He was immediately put into work(hunting) and loved it. Huge jump, super mover and really quite a sweet little guy. Extremely coltish at first, (he was only a baby stilll) but work settled him. At the time I didnt really appreciate how good our stallions were, all 4 we had standing at stud were very fit, all hunted so exercised daily, we used to ride 1, lead 2 and every one of them would be lead on a daily basis. Orlando or 'Looby' as he was nick named, was very aware of his self importance, and very aware of his own mind, strong willed he would of ruled been given the chance, but not in a nasty way. He was a diamond! I have a photo of him at a meet standing with one of our cleveland bay stallions, Ill see if I can put it on here, dont hold your breath though Im not great with computers! It has been lovely to think about him so indepth, and good to know how he spent his last days really so thanks to all of you for that! What a lovely horse, keep his blood going guys! x

I have a 4 year old gelding by Orlando - he is red and white with similar markings to the picture shown on this forum by Digger66 and attheponies. If anyone has any pictures of Orlando can you please let me know how I can get in touch?

Aaron aged 17 by Orlando. Sadly I only had him a year before he had to be PTS. Great character and got me hooked on riding again. Wish I had known him as a youngster - apparently he was a bit of a rearer though.

Orlando is the Grandsire of the two fillies we have who's sire is Flashback.
Top pic is of them not long after we got them at 10 months and the other is in the summer aged 18 months.
