Hi,

I don't normally post in this part of the forum, but often read and love taking in all the info on the stallions and foals, etc

A friend of mine wants to breed from her mare, she’s a palomino and white coloured show horse about 15hh (ish) Does very well with her BSPA Showing, etc, even though she has not done a great deal. And is a lovely little mare, my friend says she has good breeding, but all I know is she is a PBA.

I know she is after a Palomino and White Stallion, does anyone know of any nice ones? I done a quick Google search, and only had one come up, which happened to be the link she had shown me before. I don't think he was very good looking compared to her mare...

So I wondered if anyone knew of any good ones, with all your knowledge on these things

My (Dun) mare is out of a Palamino skewbald Stallion called Wolfgang Amadeus Motzart. I think he is getting on a bit now though, but he is on the bsps website.

Do not much much about him, so if you find out anything let me know!

If that is a photo of your friends mare, then she is a buckskin and white not palomino as she has a black tail!!!

There are lots of lovely colored stallions out there, it really would depend on what you would like to improve on the mare, then you can narrow down the search.

Yes sorry, i guess she is. Just she always refers to her as one.

Thanks, i well try and have a look into him.

I think she'd like a bit more height and hopefully more active paces to progress into dressage, but will be doing more showing than anything. She would like a bit more activity and presence. I don't think she wants to add more bone to her, as she likes the weight, etc.

I will give her a list of questions to help on the search.

Does your friend realise that in breeding two diltes together like that she does still stand a 25% chance of no dilute at all and a 25% of producing a cremello or perlino double dilute, the other 50% would be on a single dilute like the mare.

If she bred her mare to a coloured stallion without a dilute gene she would still stand a 50% chance of a single dilute, buckskin or palomino.

So I would go for a good quality coloured stallion that compliments the mare rather than looking for a rarer dilute coloured.

In that case have a look at Sambetino, Vagebont, Phanten, and I would have suggested Masterpiece, but unfortunatley he passed away recently.

There are lots of nice coloured stallions out there.

Thank you. I will tell her all things mentioned.

I will get her to look into the mentioned above, i know Masterpiece was such a lovely horse!

I didn't think about the dilutes, that is a good point. I have thought she would be better off looking for a nice regualr coloured stallion. Many more options and some lovely horses out there. Thank you.

Someone here suggested Masterpiece, but as said he passed away last week - but he has a lovely son - Master Harleyquin also standing at Willeslely. Lovely nature, and I would think would go well with your mare.

Master Harleyquin is Blue and white so might not be suitable, he is alovely looking horse though. Might be worth enquiring if there is any frozen semen availible for Masterpiece, otherwise i would go for Phanten or sempers spirit.
